Message from the Principal
Parents,
We are asking for your help to prevent misuse of cell phones/smart watches at our school. Please talk with your child if they have this technology about the importance of adhering to our policies.
Upon entering the school building, cell phones/technology shall be turned off and concealed in the student's backpack. Telecommunication devices (cell phones, smart watches, etc) are not allowed to be taken out during the school day. Telecommunication devices are not allowed in the hallway, cafeteria, or bathroom at school. Videoing or recording is never allowed. Again, please talk with your child about these rules and the consequences should they not be followed. We are seeing students pull out their cell phones in the cafeteria and hallways and accessing TikTok and YouTube or videoing or texting with their watches or phones. I know that together we can work to ensure the privacy of all by helping to enforce these rules.
- The use of personal technology, such as cell phones, earbuds, personal laptops, iPads, and smart watches is not allowed during the school day.
- All cell phones/technology, must remain in the student’s backpack. Not following the policy will result in the cell phone/technology being picked up by a teacher, AP, or other staff member.
- No technology is allowed on a person during a test, including smart watches.
- Students are not allowed to communicate with technology or smart watches during the school day.
When a student has been found in violation of the cell phone/technology policy, the device will be picked up and held in a safe until a parent comes to the school to pick it up. It will be subject to a $15 fine.

Credit by Exam:
Students in grades K-5 will have four opportunities during the school year to use “credit-by-exam” to accelerate to another grade level. Students will only have one opportunity to test for each grade level considered.
To apply to take the test to skip kindergarten, a student must be 5 by September 1, and registered in a CFISD school. To apply to take the test to skip grade 1, a student must be 6 by September 1, and enrolled in a CFISD school.
Students who earn scores of 80% or better on each component of the credit-by-exam will qualify to advance one grade. Only one grade level may be “skipped” each year. No retests will be given.
If you are interested in getting more information about credit-by-exam, please contact the school counselor.

As school counselors, we also can help with connecting to community resources. One community resource is the Houston Food Bank. The Houston Food Bank allows for us to serve as a liaison for a program called Backpack Buddies. We send home canned and nonperishable foods home weekly in a backpack. If you are in need of this program, please call us at (281)897-4470. Other resources include outside therapists, church ministries, school supplies, backpacks, etc. When in doubt, please call or email for any assistance. We look forward to working with you and your family.

The Birthday Marquee Is Back!
Make your child’s birthday extra special by having their name showcased on the Millsap Marquee located in the front of the school for everyone to see!
Birthday wishes will be changed out every Friday (unless otherwise noted) and displayed for a week for all to see & celebrate. There will 5 spots available each week for Millsap Birthday Wishes.
Due to limited availability, we suggest to reserve your child’s marquee spot ahead of your child’s birthday. If your child's Birthday week is filled, consider the week before or after. Does your child have a summer Birthday? Consider celebrating their name on the Marquee on their Half Birthday!
The cost is $15 for each Birthday Wish.
Important Reminders
Transportation changes should be made in writing by sending a letter which includes the name of the child, the teacher, the date, and the signature of the parent/guardian.

Transportation changes that are emailed to Millsap must include the student's name, teacher name, date of transportation change, and a copy of the parent's ID. Any transportation changes and/or pick-ups after 3:15 pm require approval from an administrator.
- Please be aware that access into the building can be a slow process due to the check-in requirements. We encourage everyone to please plan at least 5-10 minutes to go through our check-in process. All adults will need to provide their driver’s license or legal identification card. There will be no exceptions. Even VIPS and other parents who come frequently will have to show their ID each time they enter the building.
