PVES Parent Newsletter

Week of August 31st

Principal Message

I continue to evaluate practices used in virtual instruction. I have asked teachers to look towards creating instructional videos with assignments through our two programs in Iready (Math) and Benchmark Advance (English Language Arts, ELA). They will be posting a video of instruction on their Teams page this week. I ask that you get connected to your child's Microsoft 365 account and connect to the teacher Teams page. You can find the username and password for each student on skyward or contact your teacher. This can be done on a smart phone, tablet, or computer that supports Microsoft 365. The teacher will know you can access the account if you make a comment on the video. It may take until Friday to see the if the Teams page is up and ready for each teacher.

Virtual and Traditional (starting Monday)

Traditional students that need to quarantine will still remain with their teacher. The teacher will send home materials, check-in through the seessaw app, email, or phone to ensure they understand the material, and post instructional videos in the future through their Teams page.

Workbooks

I find sending materials home fills our students backpacks, ruins paperwork by spilled water, and can be lost in the shuffle. I am suggesting we have students leave their material at school. If we need to shut down for an extended time we will find a way to get that material to you. We will send home the materials if your child leaves sick.

Morning drop off line

I tried to create two lines on Tuesday, but I found it was too confusing for students to know when to get out and cross. I find one line the safest way for our students to exit out of their car and make it inside. We are asking that you pull all the way forward indicated by the last cone on the right of the line.

Panther Friday

I know many of you are awaiting a school shirt or PTO to start selling spirit wear, but I would like to make every Friday Panther Friday. Students can wear school colors of Black and Yellow, Panther sport attire, or a PVES shirt. This is not mandatory, just fun.

No School Monday, September 7th for Labor Day

Art

Mrs. Margie Christoffer will be working with students in Art and Computers this year.

Note from the school nurse

Please keep us informed on any COVID exposure or testing that may be taking place within the household contacts of your children. This will help us monitor the situation and follow guidelines here at school. Flyers went home this week that outline the guidelines we are following from the Department of Health. We are closely monitoring every child's attendance. If your child is out for a regular illness, this is also helpful information to know. You can email me anytime with questions, concerns, or information at Brittany.smiley@ccstn.org.
