My Life in Lyrics
By Mara Tate
This soundtrack isn't really dedicated to anyone in particular, but if I had to name anyone I would probably say it was to myself. As I searched for songs that have some kind of meaning to me, lots of memories started to pop up in my mind that I didn't expect to remember or even think of. Some were painful, some were happy, and a few were connected to lessons I've learned throughout the past few years. I realized that music has a kind of power over us. It congers up feelings in us that we don't expect to feel just by listening to a song. We connect with each other through music and we remember, or maybe try to forget, through the power of song. Now I think that's a pretty powerful thing.
Last Kiss, by Pearl Jam Lyrics
Bob Carlisle - Butterfly Kisses (Country Version)
Creed - One Last Breath
The songs above all remind me of my dad. They were some of his favorite songs and every time I listen to them I feel like I'm connected to him somehow even though he isn't here.
Lee Ann Womack - I Hope You Dance
I absolutely love this song! Every time I hear it I just start singing and jumping around. It's a really motivational song and it reminds me to never waste a single moment in this life and to make the most of it.
Trace Adkins - You're Gonna Miss This
Kenny Chesney - Don't Blink
I included these songs in my soundtrack because they remind me of how fast time is going by. I remember being younger and wishing that I could grow up already. I wanted to be in high school, I wanted to get my driver's license, and even now, I can't wait to graduate and start my adult life. Before you know it, you're wishing you could get this time back. But, time has no mercy, it will move forward whether you want it to or not.
Justin Moore - If Heaven Wasn't So Far Away
I love this song, even though it makes me sad. I think about all the family members that have passed, and it makes me wish I could have a chance to just see them and spend a little bit of time with them would be fantastic.
Brad Paisley - When I Get Where I'm Going
I tear up when I hear this song, it hits a nerve and I'm not really sure why. It makes me think about my life, and what I'm going to do when it all comes to an end. It makes me wonder what it's going to be like and who I'm going to see.
Safe & Sound feat. The Civil Wars (The Hunger Games: Songs From District 12 And Beyond)
Atmosphere - The Loser Wins (With lyrics)
I chose this song just because it's edgy and catchy to me. It pumps me up and it reminds me of why I cut off some of the people in my life that I have.
Deana Carter - Strawberry Wine
Dixie Chicks - Landslide
The two songs above are songs that bring back memories of riding in the car with my mom or my mawmaw. Just hearing the intros of these songs make me remember summertime and how small I felt sitting in the passenger seat of my mom's Nissan or my mawmaw's Kia. I was probably about 9 or 10, and at this time I didn't get embarrassed by my mom or my mawmaw singing to me. I was still too young to care.
