Primary 'Good News' letter
News and events taking place from 18th Oct - 8th Nov
Message from Miss Kerry, Primary Principal
Dear Parents,
Excitement is never ending in Primary and learning is made fun! We hope that you enjoy this edition of our Primary "Good News" Letter.
Student-Led Conferences
We are looking forward to our first, ever, Student-Led Conferences in the Primary School which are being held on Thursday 26th October.
It is a chance for our Primary School students to show to their parents how much progress they have made in their learning since the beginning of the academic year.
We are very proud of the way in which our children have taken responsibility for their individual learning using our SeeSaw App on the iPad to record the evidence of their learning journey.
The student-led conference is different from traditional parent conferences. During the event, the children will take the lead, instead of the teacher.
Parents will be able to take part in activities with their child so that they can discover exactly how their children learn and some of the resources that are available to complement learning.
The Primary School children have worked hard for this event and will be excited to show you what happens in class every day. Join us and enable your child to show their PYP learner attitudes: Confidence, Independence, Communication, Reflection, and Knowledge.

We believe that the voice of the students is important and that children express their viewpoint with confidence.
The student leadership team helps share students' ideas, interests, and concerns with teachers and the senior leadership team. They often get involved in school-wide activities, community projects, helping people on the playground. We ensure that the student leadership is included when we plan events that contribute to school vision. I am certain that each student has their own individual talent and will make a wonderful contribution to the AJAC school community.
Extra Curricular Activities
We began our Extra Curricular activities last week. We are pleased to announce that we are extending the sign-up period to allow the opportunity for more students to sign up for clubs. For those students that did not yet choose an ECA there are plenty of clubs still available with spaces for more children to join in.
Please visit our D6 communicator for further information. Registrations and payments can be made via the parent portal.
Our external ECA providers will be in the Primary School from 1.00 PM - 2.30 PM Thursday,19th Oct.
Our ECA coordinator Mr. Zaheer Qadir can be contacted on z.qadir@ajmanacademy.com should you need any assistance.
News from Grade 1 AST
Grade 1 AST have a student teacher this term, Miss Aysha who is a 4th Year Bachelor of Education student from Higher Colleges of Technology. On Sunday, Miss Aysha taught an English lesson with the focus on introducing students to adjectives. The children read: “Who Sank the Boat” by Pamela Allen so they created animals from the book and then described them to the class. They made some colourful, and creative animals! We are very proud of their achievements and look forward to Miss Aysha’s successful completion of her student placement at Ajman Academy
Focus on PYP Unit of Inquiry
Trans-disciplinary links from Grade 1 SMA are evident when they have linked maths with Unit of Inquiry. They have been learning about transportation. In class they have defined the meaning of transportation and explored the idea that there are different types of transportation available around the world and why people use them. The children completed a survey by going out of their classroom to ask people around the school how they travelled to school and then they will use the information to compile a graph on their findings.
Pre-KG Jelly Making!
Pre KG SSA were having fun learning how to make jelly. For our youngest students, this is learning about Colour and SCIENCE and it’s lots of fun too!
