The Tiger Parent Newsletter
Week of September 11-15
Tiger Families!
I hope you've had a chance to enjoy the weekend together sharpening your saws!
We wanted to thank you for all of the support you've given us in the last few weeks to improve our dismissal and arrival procedures. We are getting close to being "all clear" for cars and walkers by 3:20 and that is a huge improvement especially with the safety measures in place! The same is true of arrival. Your kiddos have been able to get started together as a learning community in the mornings and this has helped each of them get a great start to their day. We couldn't have accomplished this for our students without your help, so thank you!!
This week we will have the opportunity to meet together and chat about the start of school, upcoming opportunities for you to be a part of the wonderful things going on at Timberline as well as news about an exciting project that will be underway this coming summer. The first round of S.W.O.P Meets (Synergize With Our Parents) will be
- Tuesday, September 12th from 5:30-6:30 in the TES Learning Commons
- Saturday, September 16th from 10:00-11:00 location to be determined. I'll send an update once we have that finalized!
- Spanish translation will be available at each of these sessions!
I can't wait to have this time to hear from you and get to know the wonderful parents in the Timberline family better!
Lastly, I wanted to share that we will be trying a video format for our family newsletter next week. A summary of the important information shared will be included in the email with the link to the video. We're trying this to make the communication between school and home even stronger. We will have a way for you to provide feedback before making this the communication method for the remaining newsletters!
Proud to serve as your principal,
Ms. Ingram

Exploring our new devices!
Did you know your child participates in CALA (Cultural Artistic Leadership Academy)?
During this 2017-2018 school year, the CALA class will be focusing on the exciting culture and art of Central America and the Caribbean, where students will not only explore and learn about the rich culture of these countries, but also their unique artistic patrimony in dual language (English/Spanish). Students will also learn about the art and culture of Puerto Rico!
What a unique opportunity our students have to explore art, culture, and the world right within the the walls of TES! Thank you, Ms. Hernandez, for this beautiful experience!
Welcome letter from Mrs. Hernandez
SAGE FUNDRAISER!
SAGE is a Grapevine/Colleyville area Gifted & Talented advocacy group that will be hosting a fundraiser at Dave and Buster’s on Sunday, September 10, between 5 and 8 p.m.
SAGE is selling pre-paid Power Cards as a fundraiser. You use these cards instead of cash to play games. The cards do not expire, so you can buy a bunch and save them for later — and they make great gifts! To purchase Power Cards and to learn more about the event, please visit http://gc-sage.org/sept-10-dave-busters-fundraiser/”
Come and have fun with your Timberline friends!
Arrival Updates and Cheers!
Last week we had over 70 tardies in one day, and we have cut it down to 7. Can you believe it?
If you weren't aware of the changes, here you go:
-Students will be able to walk independently to the cafeteria and to the classroom.
- We have staff and students ready to greet you child as they enter the building to be sure they get where they need to go!
- Classes begin and the cafeteria closes at 7:40, so be early if your child would like to get breakfast!
Thank you so much for your assistance and positive support this week as we made some changes that really paid off!
What if I need to change how my child gets home one day?
The school will follow the direction you provided about how your child gets home each day. If there is a change to this, you must notify the office in one of the following ways:
Send a written note with your child with details for how he or she will get home that day.
Email maria.reyes@gcisd.net with details for how you child will be picked up prior to 2:00 p.m.
Call the office 817-251-5770 prior to 2:00 p.m.
Changes cannot be made by text messages or calls to teachers. Teachers are working with your children during the school day and we can’t ensure that information will get to the office.
GHS Cheer Clinic Coming Up!
Grapevine High School Cheer Booster Club is hosting the annual Cheer Clinic at Grapevine High School.
This will take place on Saturday, October 14, 2017 from noon to 3 p.m. This event serves as a fundraiser and a community service effort by the GHS Cheerleaders and is sponsored by the GHS Cheer Booster Club. This clinic is also a great way to give kids ages 4-12 an opportunity to experience the excitement of cheerleading and to cheer at a GHS JV football game. The flier and other clinic information can also be found on the GHS Cheerleader website at http://grapevinecheer.com/.
2017-2018 PTA Membership Drive
Many of our families began this school year, just like any other. However, in recent days, the entire state of Texas has turned its focus to supporting our families, friends and neighbors along the Texas Gulf Coast. We are fortunate to be part of such a great state!
In light of these ongoing efforts, Texas PTA has extended the Head Start Membership Award deadline to September 30th. This extension coincides with the Early Bird Award deadline, which remains September 30th. PTAs submitting 100% of last year’s membership totals by the deadline will receive both awards. See below for a summary of awards info.
