Cable Cubs Superheroes
We are SUPER excited to welcome our CUBS back to school!
What has been happening in our Cub den?
During this time away from school due to COVID-19, we want you to know that we have missed our Cubs so much!
We hope that all of you have had a great summer and we hope that you are ready to start learning. Many of our teachers have been working throughout the summer break. They have been attending virtual classes and have been on campus setting up their classrooms and getting ready for your child(ren). Although, this year is different for them, they are excited to get back into the classroom and help your child(ren) learn new things.
As you know, we are getting closer to the first day of school and we want to provide you with as much information as possible to help put your mind at ease. Here is some important information to help you plan:
*Instructional Program-Virtual or In Person Learning?
NISD parents were sent an email asking them to complete a short questionnaire where they make their choice of a learning model for their child(ren) for the 2020-2021 school year. If you did not receive an email with the link to the questionnaire, https://backtoschool.nisd.net/
The questionnaire will close at 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, August 16, 2020.
*Where do I get my child's books/school supplies?
Our curbside District Instructional book pick up and school supply drive through will take place on Tuesday, August 18th from 9:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Our CUBS will need to pick up these items to use during their virtual learning.
*Who will be my child's teacher?
Our virtual Meet the Teacher will be conducted on August 19 for PK-2nd grades, and August 20 for grades 3-5!! A link for the virtual meeting will be provided to you during the curbside pick up on August 18th! Our teachers will provide you with information to help make your child's learning a huge success.
*When is the first day of school?
Monday, August 24th is Day 1 of our school year. Our school day will begin promptly at 7:45 a.m. Please make sure your child is on time and has a virtual area to work during the school day. We will take attendance and everyone must be in class everyday.
*Where can I get technology for my child?
NISD continues to provide our Cubs with electronic devices to help them with virtual learning. If you are in need of a device, please visit:

*Superhero Parade
We want to see our CUBS and show them how excited we are to start this new school year. We are inviting you to our drive by parade on Friday, August 21. We will start at the back bus loop at 10:00 am. Dress in your favorite superhero attire, decorate your cars, bring signs, and come wave to your new teachers and show your school spirit! We hope to see you there!
We understand that this year is going to look different for all of us. One thing that remains the same is our love for your children and our passion for teaching. We will make mistakes, change our plans, and make necessary adjustments to keep everyone safe, healthy and happy. We can not do this job alone and we are counting on all of you for your support and kindness.
Communication is going to be essential this year! Please make sure that you are involved with your child's virtual teacher and remain connected. If you need any clarification, answers to questions, or if you simply need to share your thoughts, please do not hesitate to contact our offices.
We are all in this together!
Hugs,
Debra Pinon, Principal
