College and Career Week

April 23-27

Next week is our College and Career Week. We have some special guests that will be on campus to discuss many different jobs with our students. Thank you to the parents that are coming to speak or reached out to family or friends to help make this a successful day for our kids. Students will be able to dress up next week, so please look over the dress up days. As always, please make sure clothing is school appropriate in length and coverage.

Monday- Wear your favorite college t-shirt with jeans (no rips or holes)

Tuesday- Career Fair Day, so dress to impress (casual dresses, nice pants)

Wednesday- "Gear" up for the future with sportswear (basketball shorts, sweats, jerseys)

Thursday- Get "RED-y" for college and wear red with uniform bottoms

Friday- Dress up as what you want to be when you grow up (get creative)

Students dress up and enjoy the week.

See the back side for more important information.

Be an Active Listener

Parents, when you actively listen to your children, you help them feel valued. This makes them more willing to communicate with you. Here are some helpful techniques:

- Speak encouragingly: “Tell me more…”or “Can you describe that…”

- Restate points: “Tell me if I heard you right…”

- Empathize: Try to understand how they feel.
