Superintendent's Update - 10.8.2021
Dear CPS Community,
We are well on our way into the fall season with comfortable day temperatures and crisp nights, just right for outdoor events and even an evening fire or two! This is one of my favorite seasons, I enjoy attending school sporting events and seasonal activities this time of year brings. Beginning this week, below you will see upcoming school events to celebrate this time of year with many more to come. Please be on the lookout for events from your school principals. Attending school events is a great way to meet other families at the school and an opportunity to get out of the house to enjoy other’s company.
I have posted this week’s COVID-19 and Pool Testing Dashboards to keep you informed of the positive cases occurring in our schools. These data points are extremely helpful in the decision-making process for our schools and allow us to keep in-person learning for students a priority. Our COVID-19 positive cases continue to remain low in our schools, which signals that our mitigation strategies and constant monitoring is a tremendous help to minimize disruptions in learning. I encourage everyone to remain vigilant inside and outside of school with mask wearing, proper hand hygiene, and remind you that you may still sign-up for free weekly COVID-19 Pool Testing at our schools by providing consent for your child(ren).
Last night, we held our first public visioning session to review the Chelmsford Public Schools Districtwide Facilities Master Plan. This session was recorded by Chelmsford Telemedia. Once the link to the session becomes available for viewing, I will send it out for community members to view. Mark your calendars - Our next public session will be Tuesday, November 9th at the Chelmsford Elks, 300 Littleton Road, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. torevisit and work to update the Districtwide Facilities Master Plan. Your attendance and input are important and welcomed.
As a reminder, there is no school this Monday, October 11th. I hope you have a wonderful long weekend.
Yours truly,
Jay Lang, Ed.D.

"My School Rules Contest" - Parker Middle School
Parker Middle School has entered into a contest hosted by Boston 25 News to answer the question, "Tell us why your school rules!". Well, Parker Middle School Principal, Dr. Jeff Parks, did just that, and his bragging paid off. Parker Middle School was notified last week that they are one of two finalists for a chance to win a 5K donation and some serious positive press! Boston 25 came to the school Thursday to interview a group of teachers and students on what makes their school so great.
