Scholastic Art Awards
Congratulations to our students whose school artwork won awards in this year’s Boston Globe Scholastic Art Competition. Under the guidance of teachers Yvonne Malinowski and Ursina Amsler, nine Masconomet Middle School students won a total of ten Visual Arts awards. The art is judged by category and includes work from students statewide, grades 7-12. To have our middle school artists be recognized alongside older students is quite an accomplishment. Masco Middle School won more awards than any other middle school art program in the state of Massachusetts! Congratulations to all!
Here are the students who were recognized:
Elizabeth Soriano Honorable Mention
Noah Aronson Honorable Mention
Megan Brady Honorable Mention
Danielle Hargraves Honorable Mention

Many teachers have noticed that students are not fully engaging in class on their remote school days. Students appear distracted, they leave class, or they are not paying attention. Remote school days carry the same expectations as in-person school days and students need to fully engage in their classes. Please make sure that your child(ren) are present and engaged in their classes as it has a direct impact on their learning and achievement.
The middle school student council will be running its annual Food Drive starting on Monday, February 8th and continuing until Friday, February 26th. All students are encouraged to participate and make the year a little easier for those in need. To read about all of the details please click on this link. In short, you can donate to the school or bring your donations to local pantries or even donate on Amazon
We are grateful in advance for any contributions that can made to help make life a bit easier for those in the Tri-Town community.
Mask breaks will continue outside through the winter season. Please make sure that your students wear appropriate cold weather clothing to school to be outside for 10 minutes.
Have a good weekend,
Philip B. McManus, Ed.D.
