Students will practice strategies to support growing ideas about characters and themes in books. We will use sticky notes to help us keep track of our thoughts and will then communicate our ideas in writing.
Writing
In writing, students will begin a unit on literary essay. We will start this unit off with a debate! We will read The Giving Tree and will debate whether the tree in the story was strong or weak. Students will pick a side, then use text evidence to support their opinion.
