8th Grade Career Fair - Monday, November 20 - 8:30-10:30 am
Lane is excited to announce we will be running our second annual Career Fair on Monday, November 20 from 8:30 to 10:30 am. We will again be using an arena-style format in our auxiliary gym with 8th graders visiting tables and gathering information about various careers.
This is where we need your help. Last year, we had many Lane parents volunteer their time and share their careers with our students. We are looking for professionals in the following fields to participate in the Career Fair, but any and all career fields are welcome. Please contact one of us if you can volunteer or if you know of someone that we should contact. Thank you so much.

Student Services News
Social Emotional Learning Lessons
During the past two weeks, counselors have been to all 6, 7, and 8th grade classrooms delivering lessons on social media manners, sexual harassment, and inappropriate technology use including sexting. Curriculum is always available for parents to review, and students have been encouraged to have open conversations with their parents/guardians. In the next few weeks, counselors will be delivering lessons on Mindfulness to all our Lane students.
Sensitive Student Issues
A school community is a partnership between the staff at Lane Intermediate and the families that make up our community. At times the students at Lane need support that goes beyond the teacher-student or parent-student relationship. These periods of time may revolve around friendship issues, family divorce, depression or anxiety, self-injury, trauma, thoughts of suicide, or other.
When students demonstrate behaviors considered at-risk, they may need support from their parents/guardians but also from school staff, student services staff, or outside community supports. Additionally, students who have friends that are exhibiting at-risk behaviors may need support in understanding how they can support their peers as well as dealing with their own emotions and intense feelings surrounding such situations.
If your son or daughter is experiencing a trying time in their lives or is upset about an event or situation happening to a friend or peer, please be available to listen to them. Students may need help to identify emotions such as fear or being scared and may need your assurance that a wide range of feelings and experiences are to be expected. They may also need to be reminded that strong emotions can be experienced as physical symptoms such as insomnia, fatigue, stomach aches, headaches, and irritability. Please watch for these symptoms and any other behavior changes.
