Message From The Principal

Graduation and Thanksgiving Mass

Our Graduation and Thanksgiving Mass yesterday was a wonderful celebration of a very busy year together, as we celebrated the achievements, and gave thanks for the many blessings received by all of us. Our Catholic faith is at the heart of our school and so it is fitting that our final celebration together was one centred on the Eucharist and our community of faith. As always, our students were reverent participants in the Mass and are a credit to their teachers and parents. Also, many thanks to the parents, grandparents and friends, who were able to make the time to enjoy this celebration with us. Congratulations to our student readers, Miss Robertson and Choir for the music, Mrs Pollard and students for the Liturgical Dance, Mr Kirry and Mrs Pollard for coordinating and leading the Mass and also thank you to Father Stephen and Acolyte Mike Featherstone for celebrating Mass with us all.

Congratulations to Our Graduating Year Six Students. We wish them well, as they continue their journey to secondary education, and we thank them for the gift of their presence and contributions to St Luke’s School during their time here. Thank you also to all the members of the St Luke’s teaching team for their support and contribution to all of our students during 2022 – their constant commitment to our students is truly a gift to this community.

High School Scholarships

We are very proud to announce that Lachlan Moses and Harrison Hall have both received music scholarships for next year! Lachlan's scholarship is at Mater Dei College and Harrison's is at Sacred Heart College. This is an outstanding achievement and we are super proud of them both. Congratulations, Lachie and Harrison!

5% School Fee Decrease

At St Luke’s Catholic Primary School we are committed to providing high-quality, Christ-centred, and child-focused education alongside all the additional programs that our families have come to expect, in 2023 and beyond. We offer an important choice in schooling and our fee decrease is part of our commitment to the Woodvale community we serve, as cost of living pressures are impacting families.

Staffing 2023

The end of the school year is a time for us to reflect as well as to celebrate. For each of us, 2022 has had different challenges and different highlights. Semester 2 Reports

Available Online Now - Do you have your login details?

St Luke's Catholic Primary School utilises the SEQTA Engage Parent Portal for parents to access student reports for students in Pre-Primary to Year 6 at the end of each semester. If you have not already done so, please log in to SEQTA Engage to ensure you are able to access your child's report.

To do this you need to go to the following site:

and use your current username and password. The link is also found on the homepage of our school website, just press the orange symbol.

If you know your username but have forgotten your password, please click on the "Forgot your Password?" link and an immediate email will be sent to you. The password reset link in the email will expire within one hour, so please action immediately.

If you have forgotten both of these, then please contact the school office and we can remind you of your username.

If you are new to using SEQTA Engage you will receive an email to set up a new login account. This email will expire within 7 days so please action this as soon as possible. If you have not received your sign-up email by Week 10 or have any issues, please contact the school.

Year 6 Parents Report Reminder

Just a reminder for Year 6 parents to please print off all of your child's reports from SEQTA by 5pm Monday 12 December; as you will not be able to access reports once your child leaves the school.

Bushfire Evacuation Drill

St Luke's Catholic Primary is in a bushfire risk area. As part of our commitment to safety, the school has a clearly defined bushfire plan. This includes lockdown and evacuation procedures. The school also follows a maintenance plan where guttering and downpipes are cleared regularly, and arborists monitor trees on site on an annual basis. Last week the school participated in a bushfire drill which ran calmly and smoothly. Great job everyone!

Thank you to Mrs Simmonds for designing the backdrop; Mr Hogan for setting up all the lights and Christmas decorations and thank you to all the staff for preparing the children so well. Christmas Concert 2022

Booklists 2023

Bulk order lists have been ordered by our class teachers for 2023. Therefore, no formal booklists will be sent home this year from Kindy to Year 6. All items will be delivered to the school during January. Booklist levies will be included on the school fees for 2023.

Uniform Update

It was wonderful to officially unveil our new school uniform at this year's ACM Sundowner. Thank you to the students who volunteered their time to 'model' these new uniforms for the community. We have seen quite a few students wearing the new uniform and they look amazing!

A big thank you must go to Anne-Marie Yancazos, owner of Tudor School Uniforms, who has worked tirelessly over the last 12-24 months. She collaborated with our staff, parents and students in gaining feedback and with that, she designed a uniform that met the needs of all members of the St Luke's community. Thank you, Ann-Marie, for all your patience and hard work.

As previously mentioned, we will have a 2 year transition period where the old uniform will be accepted. Please be mindful if you are purchasing the new uniform, to not mix pieces of old and new. If you are in the new uniform, please wear the new shorts with the new shirt. Thank you for your assistance with this.

We will have full implementation of the new uniform in 2025. This means that all our current students in Year 4 upwards will not need to change their uniform over if they do not wish to. We hope this will give our families enough time to transition to the new uniform without a great expense to each family.

For students entering Year 6 in 2023:

As you will be wearing a leavers shirt, we have tried to simplify what days you will wear what uniform. So it will be as follows:

  • 2 days formal uniform
  • 2 days leavers shirts
  • 1 day sport coloured faction shirt or new sport shirt (optional)

There will be no days of the 'light blue' sport shirt.

If any parents are keen to start buying for next year, the following items are ready in store now:

  • Kindy and Pre-Kindy Tees
  • Skorts
  • Shorts
  • School Faction Polos
  • White and Navy Socks
  • Girls Navy Pleated skirt
  • Reversible Faction Bucket Hats
  • School bags
  • Woollen Jumpers

They are awaiting the arrival of the following items in January:

  • Tracksuits
  • Shirts
  • Blouses
  • Boys Formal Shorts

All remaining items from 2022 in the old style uniform are still available to purchase online at the reduced prices and will remain so until the end of our transition period.

Uniforms you no longer need?

Laura Hodgen has kindly been researching options for old uniforms to be recycled and repurposed. So if you are not passing them onto other families, please hold onto any items you no longer need. We imagine a lot of families will be buying new uniforms over the holidays and we don’t want all the old ones to be thrown in the bin! If anyone would like to assist in this initiative or has any suggestions / contacts please contact Laura at

This year the students ran 2235km, which is about the distance from Perth to Coral Bay and return. Since 2016, the students have run 7588km. If you were to drive that distance you could drive from Perth via all the capital cities and end up a the most northern point of Australia – Cape York!

The most km’s run this year was by the year 3’s who clocked up 530km, followed by the year 6’s with 433km and the year 5’s with 395km.

The class that has run the most over the past 7 years are the current year 6’s with 1245km.

Thank You!

And just like that, 2022 has come to an end and what an exciting, busy year it has been in Sport!

Some of the highlights of the year have been the Cross Country Carnival, the first Kindergarten Cross Country and Athletics Carnival, the Faction Athletics Carnival, HIIT mornings, National Health and Physical Education Day, Year Six Lightning Carnivals, and not to mention the Faction Swimming Carnival, which I think will be memorable for all those who attended and braved the rain and wind in late Spring!

Congratulations to Laurence Faction who took out the winning trophy for the Faction Swimming Carnival and it was a fantastic effort by all the students who showed resilience during the day despite the cold and rainy weather.

Running club has finished up for the year and will recommence Friday the 10th, Week Two, Term One. Well done to all the students and parents who came down on Friday mornings to start their day with fresh air and exercise. The milestone badges and medals were given out to students during last Friday’s assembly and the certificates in class. A special mention to Levi Francis who had completed a total of 230km throughout his time at St Luke’s. An amazing effort on his behalf! Also, a thank you to Nicki Francis, who after six years overseeing running club is ‘hanging up’ the running shoes. Nicki introduced Running Club to St. Luke’s in what started with three families, has now grown into hundreds which is fantastic to see and brings the St. Luke’s community together.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the parents and volunteers that have helped during the year at all the sporting events, whether that was with timing, handing out ribbons, coaching or supplying food to the competitors, you are amazing, and these events wouldn’t run smoothly without your constant support and help.

Have a safe, restful, and joyous Christmas and New Year.

Looking forward to what 2023 brings in Sport at St Luke’s.

Kind regards,

Emily Rasmussen
