Library Lessons this Month
The library taught lessons with more than 20 classes this month. Lesson topics include reference material, giving book talks, book selection, Westward Expansion and research.
More that 15 teachers used the library space and computers to work on SOL prep.
Spring Book Fair Update
The Book fair was a huge success. The school had record sales for a Spring Fair. The school made over $1500. This money is being used to buy new books, library supplies and to finance the author visit.

The Fall Fair will be held September 15th-23rd.
Author Visit Update
New York Times Best Selling author L.M. Elliott Visited our school to speak to all students on April 19th. The Young Writers' Club had a small group writing workshop with the author. Students who purchased books were able to meet with the author and have their books signed.
Rippon Book Challenge- 3rd quarter
15 students read at least 10 books and completed the Reading Challenge form. These students were treated to an ice cream party.
There will be another reading challenge celebration towards the end of the 4th quarter.
April Lunch Bunch
The April Lunch Bunch was held on the 28th. Close to 100 students participated in the event. Students attending participated in a variety of Harry Potter themed activities.
Library Use in May
The library is being used as a testing site for the SOL tests. This means that the library will not be open for students when testing is going on during the day. Students are encouraged to come to the library in the morning prior to their first class. Announcements will be made when the library is closed.

Rippon Reading Challenge
Students are encouraged to read 10 books per quarter. Those who complete this challenge and fill out the associated paper will win a prize. Students may get the challenge forms from their language arts teachers, from the library or on the library Fusion page. Completed forms should be returned to the library

Prince William County Public Library Resources
Students with a library card from the PWC public library have access to nearly 20 additional databases. In order to access these, a valid library card must be entered.
Students who would like a public library card may request one through the school library.
