MP Book Fair

Our MP Book Fair will take place Monday, September 26 thru noon on Wednesday, September 28. Classes will be coming into the library so students can find their reading treasures.

Family Book Fair Night is Tuesday, September 27, 6:00 - 8:00 PM.

Keep Library Books Safe

We're seeing an increase of library books being returned covered in water, ruining several copies. Be sure lids on water bottles are closed tightly before placing them in backpacks.

Jared Coones Pumpkin Run

The MP Run Club wraps up with the Jared Coones Pumpkin Run in memory of an Olathe elementary student who died of cancer. Everyone is invited. Parents or an adult must run with their child. One sign up per person and be sure to write Manchester Pak in for the school team price.

PTO Update

We have a busy couple of weeks with the Book Fair this week and the SON +1 Date Night on October 6th. It will be a night to remember... Filled with a Glow Foam Party, Laser Tag, and much more. Wear your neon gear and LET'S GLOW!

Visit to purchase tickets and/or sign up to volunteer. We will need help at all the stations and activities. It's a perfect time for dads to come help while the moms have a fun-filled night with their sons. We can't do it without you!
With gratitude,

Halloween at MP

As I'm sure some have started Halloween costume prep, I wanted to send this info to you now.

MP will be celebrating Halloween on Monday, October 31.

Please make note of specifics below.

- 8:45 AM, Costume Parade

- Students are to wear costumes to school that day.

- Parents should send in a bag for costume storage if student prefers.

- Parade will take place outside, so parents may see our little goblins by standing in front and side parking lots.

- If weather does not cooperate, the parade will take place indoors with students only.

- 2:50 PM, Classroom Parties

- PTO will communicate with those coming in to facilitate games.

- Those supplying approved snacks may send those in with students on that Friday before.

- Party snacks will be enjoyed during the school day during regular snack time.

Costume Guidance

Please avoid the following:

- Full costume face masks. We must see student and adult faces.

- Extra accessories that may become distractions during the school day.

- Face painting, as that is tough for a student to wear all day.

- Anything scary or gruesome. That includes cartoon characters that send a negative or violent message.

- Play weapons or sharp objects.

Costumes should be easy enough for a student to manipulate independently and allow them to sit at student desks for learning activities.

Community Conversations with Superintendent and BOE

Earlier this week, the Communications department shared information about a new opportunity for district families to engage with Olathe leadership in a series called “Community Conversations.” These in-person events will take place four times throughout the year and will provide community members with an opportunity to have an open dialogue with members of the BOE. The first event is scheduled for Sept. 27 from 9-10:30 a.m. at the IRC.

OSSSC Parent Information Session

The first Olathe Special Services Site Council Parent Information Session – “A-Z In Service Delivery – Meeting Individual Needs of All Students” – will be on Tuesday, September 27 from 6:30-7:30pm via Zoom.

Lunch With Your Timberwolf

We will start inviting parents in to eat lunch with students after Labor Day. We're a big school, so need to implement a few guidelines in order to make this happen.

- Prior sign-up is required

- Each slot covers two guests

- Upon arrival, office staff will check for your sign-up

- Lunch will take place in the cafeteria, as we don't have other available spaces

- You may bring lunch in for your student, but may NOT share food with other students

- If you'd like to purchase a school lunch, contact our front office by 9:00 AM to order

- Payment is not accepted on site, so be sure to have enough $$ on your child's meal account to cover

Link to sign-up is below.

FastBridge Assessments

As part of our district's academic assessment program, we will be utilizing FastBridge Assessments. Please click on the link below for further information.

Reporting An Absence

You have two options when reporting your child absent or late to a school day.

- Submit on our school website and click on "Reporting an Absence".

- Call the front office at 913-780-7540.

Please include the following information:

  • The child's name and his/her teacher's name
  • Date the absence will occur
  • Reason for absence
  • If your child will be late, does he/she need a school lunch? Which option?
  • Approximately when will your child arrive at school?
  • If your child will miss the entire day, do you want homework held in the office so you can pick it up or do you want it sent home with another child?

Jenny Steele Contact Info

For most of last year, the Olathe email address from my former building forwarded to me. That is no longer the case, so I think some of your emails have not made it to me.

Please make note of the updated email address:

The district is updating any other glitches due to this change in regard to responses to me from these mass emails. If you do not receive an email response from me, please make sure your message was sent to the address above.
