Cougar Chronicles
Kent Center School's Monthly Principal Newsletter
February
We are all ready for our transition into March and waiting patiently for Spring.
As many of you have read, we will be lifting our mask mandate beginning March 1. On Monday, February 28, we will discuss this transition with the students to ensure our learning environment remains comfortable for all. This includes helping students understand differing mask opinions and family choices. We will emphasize the importance of personal choices for safety as people have different needs and situations when it comes to the virus.
At KCS, we will maintain our learning environments with three feet of social distancing. The plexiglass barriers will remain in the cafeteria for the time being, but likely will be removed before the end of the year. We will continue to regularly follow our hand washing and hand sanitizing routines. Teachers will continue to offer mask breaks and fresh air breaks for all students throughout the day.
In addition to the conversations about masks at school, it is also important to have these conversations with your child(ren) at home. A document is linked below, "Talking Points for Families." Please use this as a guide when talking to your child(ren) about the choice of wearing masks in school.
Thank you for your continued support as we transition to the new guidance. If you or your child(ren) have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to contact me or their teacher(s).
Best,
Michelle Mott
