Beach Buddies' Bulletin

Hope everyone is thawing out from the start of our week! Back in kindergarten we read and wrote about snow and snowmen - a perfect theme for these chilly days!

Family Reading Night

Thank you for making Family Reading Night a priority! We loved sharing our classroom with you.

In other literacy learning this week we:

*learned a new subtracting snowman poem

*sorted AT and AN family words

*proudly read at the Care Center on Thursday

*added to our ING chart

New Smart Shops

Last week we started new Smart Shops -- our multiple intelligence literacy tubs. Some highlights are:

*a new writing app on the iPads

*using binoculars out our "Observation Window" and writing about what we see

*using new MP3 players to listen to stories

Science

We made our own snow this week...ask your kindergartner how we did it! Beginning our own Science journals was another highlight!

Apps to Share...

"Drawing with Hearts" is free for a limited time. We'll use it to write star and word family words.

Another great felt board app - "Feltboard Mother Goose" -- to retell stories and create! This is also free for now.

Next week...

In the week ahead Miss Martinez will begin teaching us math. We will also explore more on our SNOW theme. In Science we will make predictions about how various kinds of snow and ice will melt. We will also spend time remembering Dr. Martin Luther King and the great things he did. Have a great week!
