Are we doing the right things? Are we doing enough?

When embarking on a new journey we have to ask ourselves, "Who are we doing this for?" When it comes to personalized learning, are we doing it for the thousands of kids in Guilford County, the faces that look at you each day or do we start with just one? It can be trying to remember in the midst of meetings, lesson planning and just trying to master the work-life balance that making a difference begins with just one student. Who is he or she? Is it the student who cannot afford to pay a school fine? Is it the student that sleeps through class or is it the student that knows all the answers? All of these students need you. You are a great teacher. You are a work of art. You are super.

Great Teaching and Learning Spotlight

Great teaching and learning is occurring in every classroom in your building. Your peers are your greatest resource. Visit their classroom during planning to keep your ideas fresh. If you have something you'd like to share, email it to me and I'll feature it in my weekly updates.

Ms. Thompson (Guilford Science/8th) left the comfort of Edmodo and started using Canvas for her students. She admits that there are some challenges with this new tool but she's a trooper and continues to persevere. Tigers, be sure to visit this Canvas Power User if you need help. Thanks for taking the leap, Ms. Thompson!

Are you looking for a new way to teach mood and tone? Look no further than these trailers from some of our student's favorite movies. Use KeepVid to convert the videos. This will allow you to share them via Canvas, Playlist Builder or a QR Code Gallery Walk. You'll find a multitude of similar videos on YouTube.
