Digital Resources
Did you know that your child has access to all kinds of online resources from any connected device? Students can practice reading e-books, research topics, watch educational videos, practice typing, math, and much more. Just navigate to https://launchpad.classlink.com/fcs and have your child enter his/her student number and password (birthday mm/dd/yyyy). Then, students may choose from a wide variety of programs and databases. Give it a try today!
End of the Year in the Media Center
Can you believe it's already time to start planning for the end of the school year? It seems like the excitement of the first day of school was just yesterday. All student library books are due back by Friday, May 11th. Notices will be sent home with students in Wednesday folders of books still checked out. So...please help your child to search for any missing library books. Any lost library books must be found and returned or paid to replace by the end of the year.
Read ebooks at Home
Do you know that your child can read library e-books from his/her computer at home (or from any mobile device)?
In your browser, navigate to https://fulton.mackinvia.com/ Then your child can log on with his/her username (lunch number) and birthday (mm/dd/yyyy). On the left-hand side of the screen, click on ebooks. Our school has almost 1,400 ebooks to choose from. Try some out today!!
A Message From the P.E. Department
We are looking for 3-5 quick pitch tents to scatter around the field on our Field Day, May 18th, and would return them that day following the close of Field Day at 11:30 a.m.
If you have a tent you would be willing to let us borrow, please contact Coach Walsh at walshd@fultonschools.org.
Cordially,
Your P.E. Department
Exxon Mobil
Thank you to our neighborhood Exxon Mobil, located at 8325 Roswell Road, for donating $1000 to our school to support our STEM lab to enhance teaching in the areas of Science and Math. The Exxon Mobil Educational Alliance program provides grants annually and we are fortunate to have been selected again! Please visit the EXXON MOBILE station at the corner of Northridge and Roswell Road (store: Circle M #90) and be sure to thank them for supporting our school. Generous businesses like Exxon Mobil support our students’ success and remind us that quality education positively impacts our entire community.
Thank You GreenSky!
Thank you to GreenSky, our newest business partners, for bringing 10 volunteer readers to help make Dr. Seuss’ birthday celebration extra special! The volunteer readers visited lots of our classrooms and many even dressed in pajamas for this special occasion. We look forward to having more GreenSky representatives here at DSES for building enhancement projects, Career Day and Field Day! We are grateful to this business/community partners for investing in our children.
Preventing the Flu & Flu Outbreak @ DSES
What else can you do to help prevent the spread of the flu and other infectious illnesses? The first thing is simple….WASH YOUR HANDS FREQUENTLY! Wash hands often with soap and water. If soap and water is not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer/rub. Did you know the single most important thing you can do to prevent the spread of infectious illnesses is washing your hands? While most of us already
know this, it is sometimes hard to remember this simple little important task during a busy day.
Some additional preventive measures you can do to help reduce the spread of flu and other infectious
illnesses include:
- Teach children not to share personal items like drinks, food, eating utensils or other personal items such as towels, combs, brushes, clothes, and cosmetics
- Wash coats, jackets, sheets; Wipe down lunch boxes with disinfecting wipes
- Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze and properly dispose of used tissues. If you do not have a tissue, use your elbow, arm or sleeve when coughing or sneezing instead of the hand (avoid touching eyes, nose, or mouth – germs spread this way);
- Wash athletic practice clothing each day, and shower after any contact sport;
- Stay home if you are sick and not going to a medical care facility, especially during the first days of illness when symptoms are more severe and the infection is most contagious. Return to work or school only after symptoms have improved and after you have had no fever for at least 24 hours.
- Try to avoid close contact with people who are sick;
- Clean and disinfect surfaces and objects that may be contaminated with germs like the flu. Viruses lurk in places you wouldn’t think. Everyone is vulnerable to picking up viruses.
- Custodians will play close attention to disinfecting bathrooms, door knobs and surfaces (tables/desks) etc.
- Make sure your vaccinations are up-to-date;

DSES Career Day
End of the School Year Cafeteria Charge Policy
In an attempt to recover charges and keep the cost of student meals to a minimum, beginning Tuesday, May 1st, your child(ren) will not be allowed to charge meals against their account if they do not have sufficient funds available. If your child(ren) has charges, please make plans to pay these as soon as possible.
Students who have a negative balance on their accounts will need to bring money to pay these charges before a regular meal can be purchased. If these charges are not paid, a courtesy meal will be provided to the student(s).
You may continue to pre-pay for your child(ren) meals using cash, check or mypaymentsplus.com. Money remaining in the students’ account will remain in their accounts until the next school year and all refunds are issued by request.
I want to take this opportunity to thank you for allowing your child(ren) to participate in our School Breakfast and Lunch Programs. It has been a pleasure serving them.
School Cafe Serves Farm Fresh Blueberries in April!
In April, the Blueberries served at lunch are part of Fulton County’s School Nutrition Farm to School Initiative. These blueberries have been grown and harvested from farmers across the Southeast. Since the blueberries are grown nearby, they are at peak freshness, more environmentally friendly and help support our local farmers! Blueberries are rich in vitamin K and vitamin C! Be sure to pick up the farm fresh blueberries in the school cafe the week of April 23rd!
