Wooten Family Weekly
September 21-25 2020
FRIDAY SEPT. 25 & OCT. 2 WILL BE VIRTUAL ASYNCHRONOUS DAYS WITH SYNC. MORNING MEETING ONLY
Friday 9/25 & 10/2 will be virtual asynchronous days for Wooten Elem. students. Our teachers will take attendance during SYNCHRONOUS Morning Meeting. Teachers will meet with students and lead a morning meeting and then review student assignments for the day and then students will work asynchronously on the assignments throughout the day. Teachers will be available for questions at various points of the day. We hope this helps your family and our staff to best serve all of our students.
Please fill out the important Parents Survey by September 21 if you haven't already.
Please note that surveys can only be taken once per each student enrolled. You will need your child’s student ID number to access the survey and respond for your student. Questions about the survey or requests for help with the survey can be sent to survey@austinisd.org.
The link to the survey is also available on the main AISD webpage, on the Open for Learning webpage, on the AISD Facebook, on the AISD Twitter, on the AISD mobile app, and in the AISD Parent Cloud. Please feel free to spread the word to ensure that all of our families’ voices are heard!
Please complete the survey as soon as you can so that we can start confirming plans for our Wooten students, families, staff, and facilities. Surveys close on, 9/21/20. Thank you for choosing to share you kids with us. Together, we are a Wooten Family – It’s not WHERE we are, It’s WHO we are!
Phase In Details - to begin, Oct. 5
Dear Families,
We hope you are all doing well and staying safe. We know that learning from home has been not been an easy task as you balance family, work, and school during this pandemic. Please know that we are grateful for all your support and hard work from home as you support your child during virtual learning. We are so PROUD of our Wooten Community! We absolutely want to be in every single teachers' classrooms all day long because of the beautiful teaching and learning happening, despite the challenges of our virtual world. This information provides more detailed information on the reopening plan. We know you are receiving a lot of district communication right now and that can create a lot of questions. An email came out recently from our Superintendent with information about our reopening plan and phasing in.
As you know our Superintendent has released information about the phase-in plan for all AISD students. Each week specific grade levels will be allowed to return to campus for learning. We will create an environment that feels like a typical classroom and learning as much as we can. Students will use BLEND for some of their learning during in person learning. It is important to understand that for the safety of all students and staff, there will be strict safety guidelines and the opportunities for student transitions will be limited. As you know, this will be very different than what we are used to at Wooten Elementary. It will not look like a traditional setting during phase-in.
We are unsure if a teacher will teach only in person, only virtual, or both in person & virtual. We prefer one for each teacher, but will do what is needed to meet the survey responses. We want minimal disruptions to the relationships, systems, and teaching as possible.
We want to communicate the phase-in model that AISD has released.
AISD Phase-In Plan:
Week 5 &6: October 5-16 (Facility Capacity 25%)
- Students receiving specialized services (life skills, social behavior skills, SCORES, and/or auditory/deaf education)
- Children of staff returning to the school at which they are enrolled
- Grade levels: Pre Kinder, Kinder, & 1st Grades
- Siblings of students in prioritized group(s) for this week
Week 7: October 19-23 (Facility Capacity 50%)
- Grade levels: 2nd & 3rd Grades
- Siblings of students in prioritized group(s) for this week
- This scenario is dependent on if we remain at Stage 3 per Austin Public Health.
Week 8: October 26-30 (Facility Capacity 50%)
- Grade levels: 4th & 5th Grades
- Siblings of students in prioritized group(s) for this week
- This scenario is dependent on if we remain at Stage 3 per Austin Public Health.
Please complete the AISD parent survey by Monday, September 21st. This helps to provide us data so that we can plan for the physical return to campus.
We know that this is a lot of information and there are numerous variables now for our families. We appreciate your patience, understanding, and support as we work to make the transition safe for all. There will be challenges, however, we will work together as a community to ensure that our students, families, and staff feel supported. As always, thank you for your support!
With Appreciation,
Wooten Faculty and Staff
