Greetings from the School Social Worker!
Hello, My name is Tahja Green-Carney and I am the school social worker at Holy Name Catholic School. I am committed to encouraging, supporting and empowering students to become their best selves. My primary task is to help all students do well in school by addressing their social and emotional needs.
I meet with students individually and in small groups to benefit and meet the needs of our community. I speak a language of hope and blend respect, empathy, curiosity, creativity and patience when working with students.
Services
● School-wide positive behavioral support strategies (Character Education, Bullying Prevention, etc.)
● Short-term individual and group counseling (coping skills, social skills, problem solving, emotional literacy, etc.)
● Help accessing community resources (food, housing, therapy, etc.)
● Crisis Intervention
● Provide support to teachers regarding classroom management
● Assist with attendance issues
● Conflict mediation/Restorative Practices
As a school social worker, I work with the entire student body in promoting social-emotional well-being. All individual counseling services require a referral form from either a parent, guardian or teacher, unless the student is in middle school. Middle school students may refer themselves for counseling without prior approval of a parent, guardian or teacher. If you are a parent or guardian, interested in seeking services for your child you can reach out to me by email or contact your child’s teacher for a parent referral form.
Availability
I will be at Holy Name weekly on Wednesdays and Fridays from 8:00am to 3:30pm.
