St. Viator Parish School

Viator Voice: December 9, 2019

The days are growing darker and colder. In this second week of Advent, we give thanks for two candles that push back the darkness and remind us that the Light of the world is coming.

Advent Preparations are Underway!

PreKindergarten & Kindergarten Registration for 2020-21

We are currently taking registrations for students entering PreKindergarten and setting up appointments to test for new students entering Kindergarten for our SVS families. If you are a current PreKindergarten parent, your child will not need to be tested for 2020-2021.

We are Looking Forward to the Christmas Fine Arts Festival ~ December 18th!

Next Wednesday, our children will be performing in the Christmas Fine Arts Festival. As with last year, I have a sense of what to expect from our students and families:

  • Quiet, reverent entry into our Church. Of course, no food or drink, outside of water.
  • There is a videographer and photographer so that you can remain in your seat and enjoy the show without looking through the lens of the camera. Children should be dressed as directed by their moderator or teacher.
  • Arrival at 5 pm. This year, students will be sitting with their parents by performing group in an assigned area and will be called up when their group performs.
  • Performance begins promptly at 5:30 pm. The handbells, choir, band, and school children have been working very hard on their music selections. Since the program is scheduled to be approximately one hour; everyone will want to stay and watch the entire performance.

WCEA Update

Our journey toward re-accreditation continues. We are finalizing our timeline for the WCEA accreditation visit scheduled for February 2020. The visiting team was trained yesterday and the Self Study is in final production. Reservations have been made and we look forward to sharing all of the brilliant facets of St. Viator School with the team.

NJHS Fundraiser!

The National Junior Honor Society is planning to sell Christmas cards to celebrate the holidays.

Cards will be sold from December 11th to the 18th.

They cost a dollar each, and you can buy them before or after school. It will be similar to the Valentine grams, but instead of lollipops, there will be a candy canes on the card. On the card, is a short story about the meaning of the candy cane. It is a pleasant reminder that Christmas is about Jesus and his birth.
