Principal's Message
Kia ora Parents and Whānau,
On behalf of TNIS staff I would like to thank those of you who were able to attend our School Picnic on Friday 12th February. It was great to connect with our new and current whānau at our first school event of 2021. Our next opportunity to connect with parents is Wednesday 10th March at Goal Setting Learning Conversations.
We feel very grateful for being able to have a fantastic start to the school year before going into Alert Level 3 Lockdown. Our staff are working very hard to support our learners and stay connected. We appreciate all of the support that you are giving your child and us. We are hopeful that Camp Raglan will proceed next month. If we were to be in Lockdown then we would endeavour to rebook camp or EOTC (Education Outside The Classroom) for later in the year.
Thank you also for supporting our school expectations. We expect high standards of respect, kindness, behaviour and uniform from our learners both at school and in the community. Please discuss with your children the importance of respectful behaviour coming to and leaving school each day especially if they cycle or catch buses.
Ngā mihi nui,
Wendy
Reminders
Education Outside the Classroom (EOTC)
$235.00 for the Camp Raglan experience.
Separate information has been sent home regarding this programme. Please sign up with teachers as parent helpers (Police Vet required - forms linked through the recent app alert).
Camp Sponsorship - As you are aware there are some extra stresses in our community at the moment. If you are able to help one of our families by financially supporting another learner to attend camp please choose the SPONSORSHIP option on Kindo. You can contribute in $50 increments or a full payment.
School-wide Costs have been set for the year at $140.00 This covers school-wide resources and events such as Stationery Pack (already issued), school-wide trips and activities, Yearbook and on-line learning programmes.
As we are a cashless school please make payment through your school Kindo Account. More information on school payments and setting up your Kindo account is below.
School Swimming Sports - NEW DATE - Tuesday 2 March, 9.30 - 2.15pm
Location: Takapuna Grammar School Pool
In the interest of being SunSmart, the day will be split into two sessions. Year 7 learners will go from 9.00am - 11.30am followed by Year 8s from 11.30am - 2.15pm. There are races for everyone and we encourage every learner to take part in at least one event. Learners are able to wear sensible SunSmart clothing to school. Parents are welcome to attend.
Safe and Sensible Behaviour
We have noticed that some learners are bringing glass drink bottles to school. Please check that your child is only using a plastic or metal drink bottle at school. Please also remind your child not to share drink bottles at school.
This week, we have seen a rise in inappropriate behaviour with water in bathrooms. Please support us by talking to your children about the importance of keeping our bathrooms clean, pleasant and safe to use.
