A few "house keeping" items as we get the school year underway!
- Students should be dropped off no earlier than 8:45am on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.
- Students should be dropped off no earlier than 8:30am on Wednesdays for Summit Rise.
- Unless it is an emergency, please consider avoiding the time window of 3:45pm-4:00pm to pick up your child in the office. This is an extremely busy time at dismissal.
- Please be sure your child is safe at the bus stop each morning.
- Attendance is extremely important to your child's academic success. Although absences happen, please contact the office when your child will not be in attendance. 816.986.4243
- If your child will be late to school, please come in to the office and sign in your child for the day.
- Please remember to utilize My SchoolBucks to monitor your child's breakfast/lunch balance. https://www.myschoolbucks.com/ver2/login/getmain
- If you need additional information about the bus route: http://www.infofinderi.com/ifi/?cid=LSRS13J5TQSE7
- Please allow everyone at SVE to get into their lunch routines before coming up to school to eat lunch with your child. We absolutely love visitors, but if you could begin lunch visits on Tuesday, September 6th, that would be really helpful. (It's kind of like preparing your own house for guests. We want to make sure we put our best foot forward! :-)
- Please consider supporting our wonderful SVE PTA! http://sve.lsr7.org/pta/
- Our car lane and bus lane are tight quarters! Please be patient when entering and exiting SVE.
Note from Mrs. Taylor!
Hi all! Can you believe that summer is coming to an end? Usually, the first sign hits us when the pumpkins start showing up in our retail stores! :)
Each week, I will be sharing some tips and information about the behavior process we use here at Sunset Valley. BIST (Behavior. Intervention. Support. Team) focuses on prevention, protection, and processing. BIST interventions are utilized when students are unable to respond to redirection and classroom management. The goal of BIST is to protect both the child and his/her environment from their inappropriate behavior AND to teach the child how to change the misbehavior. Protect, teach but not punish! Many parents have questions, like…“What is a Think Sheet?” or “Isn’t the Safe Spot just another word for time out?” Through these weekly tips, I hope to answer the questions above, as well as, others you might have in regards to the BIST process. Stay tuned…
