News and updates for families of Inspire students

September 4, 2020

Dear Inspire Families:

As we head into the Labor Day weekend, I want to take a moment to acknowledge and thank you for the work--visible and invisible--you do daily for our community. Many of you are the first-responders, health care workers, and caregivers ensuring our safety and well-being. All of you have become home educators, working to ensure students have a safe, quiet, and structured place to do schoolwork. For so many of us, taking on the role of teacher has overlapped with the role of parent in ways we didn't predict. It's not easy, but we know how hard you're working.

We know that your partnership, great ideas, and honest feedback were vital to helping us put together a school plan that--while not perfect--serves our students. We know the power of a phone call with a parent that helps us get to the bottom of a problem and find solutions. We see a groundswell of support with donations and parent volunteer efforts that will help us build a school our students deserve.

We hope that this weekend you will find the opportunity to rest from your labors, enjoy time with your family, and discover new energy to move forward in hope.

With gratitude for your partnership,

Becky Brown

Paradise Property Cleanup: Need Help? Want to Volunteer?

Need Help with Cleanup?

As you may know, the town of Paradise and CAL fire are requiring cleanup on property that was burned in the Camp Fire. The Inspire team wants to help. If your family needs their property cleaned, we are organizing staff, students, and other volunteers from Inspire to help with that project. The project would meet CalFire guidelines including grass and brush.

If your family was a victim of the Camp Fire and you need help with cleanup, please email Lee Holcomb at (530) 891-3090 or email him at with your name, contact information, and property location by Tuesday, September 9.

Want to Help with Cleanup?

If you would like to help families in Paradise with property cleanup, let us know! We will plan to meet in Paradise at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, September 9 for 2-3 hours of trimming, mowing, and weed-eating. We will clear the property, load the refuse, and haul it to the dump. A team of 12 to 20 people should be able to clear a lot in about three hours. It’s a dirty job, but we will have fun doing it. It would be great to have you as a part of that team. We are moving on this right away. Please respond to the Inspire office if you would like to be involved. please email Lee Holcomb at (530) 891-3090 or email him at with your name, and contact information by Tuesday, September 9.

Inspire School Calendar, 2020-21

Daily Schedule

Get Involved!

This year, more than any other year, we need volunteers for Inspire School of Arts & Sciences. The school has had several set backs in the past few years, such as the 2018 Camp Fire which affected Inspire more than any other school in Chico and the pandemic which is estimated to cost the school over $300,000. At the same time, the school has received a grant from the state for $10M but can not access it unless they match with $10M.

In order to assist the school, the Inspire Foundation was created, Celeste Cramer was hired as their Development Director, and many events and plans have been scheduled. And we need volunteers to make Inspire successful. Some examples are:

  • Flamingo Auction - arts students are decorating flamingos for a Foundation auction
  • Inspire UNITED Concert Series - schedule every few weeks for families to enjoy music from their living rooms
  • Inspire Pledge Drive - October 16th and will exhibit presentations for different fields of study (robotics, science, dance, theatre, etc.)
  • Neverland Ball Gala planned for April 10th, 2021 at Sierra Nevada Brewery
  • Inspire Sober Grad Night
  • Grants for Angel Network
  • Sponsorships and grant for Scholarships and other needs

We have so much planned and are excited for your help! To learn more, please RSVP here. Once you RSVP, you will receive the Zoom meeting information.
