GMOs for the win!
Health Benefits
GM foods have longer shelf lives, as well as more health benefits. Nutritional value is increasing while calorie and fat content are decreasing. Fewer pesticides, herbicides, and fertilizers are used when growing GM crops, which consequently makes them safer to eat. The use of GMOs will also benefit the poor regions of the world where malnutrition is a problem, which typically depend on one staple item that doesn't provide the necessary nutrients when solely consumed. Scientists genetically add vitamins and minerals to improve nutritional value.
Friendly Factories
Eventually GM plants will become environmentally friendly factories that mass produce helpful substances such as pharmaceuticals. Scientists are trying to insert vaccines into foods such as tomatoes and bananas. Traditional vaccines are hard to manufacture, difficult to store, and aren't always available in developing countries.
Golden Rice
Stimulates generation of vitamin A.
Eatable Vaccines
Easier to ship, store, and administer.
