Wednesday, July 13, Last Day to Submit Assignments

Please keep in mind that all of your assignments for this course must be submitted by Wednesday, July 13 th. NO ASSIGNMENTS WILL BE ACCEPTED AFTER WEDNESDAY, JULY 13th. There are no exceptions! Please be aware of this as you are completing your last few assignments for this course, especially for those of you who are in the habit of submitting assignments late. We cannot accept any work once final exams begin on Thursday.

American Lit AB: An EOC Milestone Course

This is a Milestone course, and for students in public schools in Georgia, they are required to take the American Lit EOC Milestone for this course; it will count 20% of the final grade in the course and will take the place of the final exam.

If you are a student in a Georgia public school:

  • You will not take the final exam that is a part of this online class.
  • You will have to take the EOC Milestone for the course at your face-to-face school.

PLEASE NOTE: GAVS does not administer the EOC Milestone and does not make arrangements for students to take the Milestone. It is the responsibility of the student and parents to contact the face-to-face school and arrange for the student to take the Milestone test.

If you have questions, please let me know!

End-Of-Semester Timeline

Wednesday, July 13: Last day to submit work for the course

Thursday, July 14: Final exam (NOT required for students who have taken/will take the EOC Milestone)--see announcement above about EOC)

Friday, July 15: Last day for access to the course (If you want to print out grades or capture any feedback)

Thursday, July 21: Grades released (see special announcement below)

A Word about Final Grades

Grades for GAVS courses are scheduled to be released on Thursday, July 21. However, for EOC Milestone courses (such as this one), grades cannot be released until your face-to-face school has reported your EOC score to GAVS and it has been calculated as 20% of your final grade. Once you have taken the EOC, it has been scored by the state, your face-to-face school has received your score and reported it to GAVS, and the score has been calculated into your final average, then you will receive your final grade.

Grading Priorities

This week my priority for grading will be the rough drafts for the Gatsby essay and the research essay so that I can give you feedback that will help with the final essays. Then I will grade other items. I should have most assignments graded within 24 hours, but the top priority will be the ones you need quick feedback for!

A Personal Note...

I just want to let you all know how much I have enjoyed getting to know you over the course of this very short semester. Summer work is very intense, and the work is rigorous, but you have all been great, and I am really proud of you! I hope you have a wonderful rest of the summer and a great school year!
