Wiggle that Door
Our alarm system has not been set in some time. We put in a work request. After some investigation, they found that it is not setting or able to be set due to an open door. When you leave, please be sure to wiggle the door to confirm that it is indeed closed.
Wylie Way: Caring & Giving
The change of the quarter means change in the Wylie Way focus. In lieu of Red Ribbon Week, we will have Caring & Giving Week to kick-off our canned food drive. Please see the posters hanging up for more information.
DinoBeat: 9 Week Awards
At PLC this week, we discussed recognizing our students for their academic success in another way. Previously we had students stand for either A or AB honor roll. The problem with this practice is:
- With advanced pods, some students are not acquiring A's and B's because of the advanced curriculum.
- Did we really "recognize" them in an authentic, meaningful manner? No. We did not.
- Recognizing academic success completely based on the letter grade teaches children we are more focused on the product, opposed to the process. I'm sure most of you agree that you would want a hard working student.
So, after meeting with each team, we are going to have the Gettin' Gritty award! Each teacher will recognize one student that exemplifies one or both of the following:
- Someone who consistently puts forth great effort to become successful in their academics. (GRIT)
- Someone who has shown notable growth in a specific subject.
Thank you for all of your ideas!
