Of Mice and Men Book Review
Story by John Steinbeck Review By Rudy white
Altnation
I considered this book close to perfect in its story. No real plot holes in the story is straight forward.
Down in the Dumps
If I could remove one character it would be crooks. Even though what he says is important and true about racial injustice he is only in one scene and the book could go entirely without his part. His racial injustice is important but the whole story is already about injustice so its only realy there to add on.
Fab Five faves
* “Maybe ever’body in the whole damn world is scared of each other.”
It explains itself, most people are just afraid of what others are thinking or doing.
* “I got you to look after me, and you got me to look after you, and that's
why.” It shows true friendship.
* “Guys like us got nothing to look ahead to”. = they know theres nothing good coming their way theyre just trying to survive.
* “I can still tend the rabbits, George? = lennys famous quote, his only hope left to be happy.
* You never oughta drink water when it ain’t running,” its not good for you.
Best Seller
Of mice of men is an all time classic book. The classic tale of farmhands just trying to get by in the early 1900's is full of great storytelling and classic coming of age. George and his autistic best friend Lenny try to survive many pitfalls along the way of the story. George wants success and to move on to happiness but lenny holds him back and george loves him too much to leave him. On the run and Taking shelter on a farm and the other farm hands bring all kinds of problems and insights about life and times. The story touches on many other topics like discrimination, love and murder, its entertaining and touching. The stories ending leaves you somber but hopeful and importantly the ending is memorable. The story is perfectly told and paced and the charecters are detailed. If you havent read this story already then its definatly recommended as its a coming of age story.
