St. Columba Catholic School - News every Friday - 10/9/20
This week was such a great week! Our spirit day on Wednesday was such a fantastic success! It was so great to see our students wearing their green, yellow, and St. Columba swag! Thank you to our Student Council for organizing a fantastic COVID-approved virtual pep rally! It was so much fun!
I want to also thank all of you for your kindness and generosity for my birthday! I have said it before, and I will say it again, I am truly blessed to be a part of such a fantastic and loving community!
While it was great to enjoy some fall-like weather these last few days, next week looks hot again. We will have half days on Tuesday-Friday. Monday will be a full day.
I want to end with something that made my heart smile today. As we were wrapping up the day, I was returning a lost sweater to a student and I was walking by 1st grade. As a student was leaving her class, Ms. Burke said, "Have a great weekend. I love you!" Although I hear this from our teachers and students a lot, for some reason, today, it really struck me. We have such a wonderful, loving community and I am so proud to be a part of it! Thank you Ms. Burke and all of our teachers for always loving our students! And thank you to our students, parents, and family members for loving us in return!
Here is a look ahead at the upcoming events on campus:

- Tuesday, October 13: K-8 Half Day
- Wednesday, October 14: K-8 Half Day
- Thursday, October 15: K-8 Half Day

Beginning of Year Forms
OVER 40 FAMILIES STILL HAVE NOT TURNED IN THESE FORMS. IF YOU HAVE NOT TURNED IN FORMS, THEY WERE SENT HOME WITH YOUR CHILD TODAY!
PLEASE RETURN THEM ON MONDAY!
Water Bottle Reminder
Please remember that each child should come to school each day with a reusable water bottle!
The school has been providing disposable water bottles for children that do not have a water bottle, but we have already gone through 3 cases of bottles.
If you are missing a water bottle, we are starting to collect some in the lost and found in the office.
With Halloween right around the corner, we wanted to take the time to update what we are doing. Halloween falls on a Saturday, so we will be celebrating on Friday, October 30.
For all families, students may wear costumes to school that day. Please no masks that cover your child's face, no weapons, and no costumes that are disrespectful or unkind.
For Preschool Families, Ms. Lori will be sending out specific information about day of celebrations.
For K-8 Families, we are requesting that each child comes to school on the 30th with a pumpkin. We will be hosting a pumpkin decorating contest. The school will provide all of the materials, but students need to bring the pumpkin. We will also be providing candy as the students "trick or treat" from class to class. Please do not send additional candy or treats unless specified by your child's teacher.
More details to come as we get closer!
