Fulton Flier
Week of March 29th
Today, we enter into Phase 3 of our Re-Opening. We are elated to welcome our 3rd-5th graders into the building for in-person learning this week. With RECC-5th grade we have approximately 615 students joining us for in-person learning. Our students continue to adjust to our new procedures very well and we have no doubt that our 3rd-5th graders will follow suit.
With an increased number of students joining us, please ensure that you review our arrival/dismissal procedures- especially if you are accessing our carloop. We will continue to have students exit their cars at 9:30am in order to help students exit their cars and get into class before our tardy bell at 9:45am. To help expedite this process, please ensure that students are sitting on the passenger side of the car, have their masks on, and are ready to exit the car once you pull up to the numbered slot.
Additionally, please continue to take caution as you travel over spring break. As a reminder,
- International travel: CDC does not require that international travelers undergo mandatory federal quarantine, but CDC recommends you get tested AND stay home and self-quarantine after travel
- Domestic travel: CDC does not require that domestic travelers undergo a mandatory federal quarantine, but CDC recommends you get tested AND stay home and self-quarantine after travel.
If your family is traveling over spring break, your child is able to access his/her learning virtually until your self-quarantine is over. If you have any questions, please reach out to Ms. Christina Toler, our school nurse christina_toler@hcpss.org.
Warmly,
Dr. Burks

Message from the Health Room
To ensure students are healthy enough to attend in-person instruction, parents/guardians are to perform a symptom check every day before the student leaves home. A student having any of the following symptoms should not be sent to school and may continue to access their classrooms virtually if they are well enough to do so:
1 of the following:
- New onset cough, shortness of breath, or difficulty breathing
- New loss of taste or smell; OR
2 of the following:
- Fever over 100.4 or chills within the past 24 hours
- Fatigue
- Muscle or body aches
- Headache
- Sore throat
- Congestion or runny nose
- Chills or shaking chills
- Nausea or vomiting
- Diarrhea
Additionally, students who have been in close contact (within less than 6 feet for a cumulative time of 15 minutes or more over the past 24 hours with or without a mask) with anyone who tested positive for COVID-19 or is suspected of having COVID-19 (exhibiting COVID- like illness and has not tested negative after exhibiting symptoms) should not enter any HCPSS building.
Parent/guardians will assess their children for symptoms of COVID-19 illness and refrain from sending/transporting them to school until after they have been symptom-free at least 10 days after the onset of symptoms, have no fever for at least 24 hours without the aid of fever-reducing medication, and have continued improvement of symptoms and/or medical consult with their primary care physician.

March 31 Virtual Information Sessions for the Digital Education Center (DEC)
HCPSS is considering a virtual school option for students in grades K-12 who wish to remain virtual for the 2021-2022 (upcoming) school year. Once finalized, the Digital Education Center program will give students the option to access synchronous (real-time) instruction and digital assignments while receiving support services from the student’s districted home school.
Two virtual information sessions will be held on Wednesday, March 31. For more information and to register for the virtual information sessions, please visit https://news.hcpss.org/news-posts/2021/03/hcpss-dec-virtual-information-sessions-march-31-2021/.
