· Roosevelt, Republican ,the 26th U.S President served from 1901-1909.
·Born October 27th, 1858 and died January 6th 1919.
· Roosevelt was deemed the country's first environmentalist president. In 1906, he signed the National Monuments Act, protecting sites like the Grand Canyon and preserving countless wildlife sanctuaries, national forests and federal game reserves.
· In 1904, Theodore Roosevelt won the Presidency by a landslide. He summed up his victory by stating, "I am no longer a political accident." (Theodore Roosevelt National Park summary document.) Theodore brought new excitement and power to the Presidency. He vigorously led Congress and the American public toward new reforms and a strong foreign policy.
