The Freshman FUNdamental
February Updates
Flu Season
- If your son/daughter is not going to be in school, please give her a call or send an e-mail to let her know the reason for the absence.
- If your son/daughter is going to be late to school, please give her a call or send an e-mail to let her know the reason. Even if the student is 15 minutes late, she will need to hear from you.
- It is important that you reach out to teachers for make-up work through PowerSchool or Schoology. With the large volume of absences being processed, Team 2021 can not do this for you.
- Students who attend East, should still contact Mrs. Birkofer to report tardies or absences. Please do NOT contact EMS to do this.
Please see contact information below
Students Leaving School Due to Illness
Of course, as the parent, it's your decision on whether or not your child is well enough to come to school each day. Once students are here and entrusted to our care, we need to have them in the clinic if they aren't feeling well, and the nursing staff will contact home in the event a child needs to leave due to illness.
Scheduling Update
If you wait until the summer or the beginning of next year, it's too late.
Biology I-Step will be the week of March 5th for Team 2021
- Get lots of sleep
- Eat a good breakfast
- Review you notes
- Biology teachers will know the exact schedule for the week

Companies Marketing to High School Students
- It arrives in the mail in an expensive envelope.
- It states that your son/daughter has been selected to attend the week long summit, workshop, symposium, academy, forum or other.
- It generates a lot of excitement in your family because it looks very official.
- It boasts that attendance will promote college acceptance.
- It comes with a hefty price tag that includes travel fees.
While these programs can be exciting and beneficial, it's important to do your research before mailing the check. In general, reputable programs seeking outstanding high school students will have only a minimal charge and be connected to the local community in some way.
It is also important to note that Brownsburg HIgh School does not provide names of students to outside companies or organizations. Many times your sons/daughters inadvertently add themselves to mailing lists by checking boxes or NOT unchecking boxes when they are registering for other activities.
