Directed by Ivan Reitman, this movie is about three professors (Bill Murray, Dan Aykriod, and Harold Ramus) are kicked out of their university for studying the paranormal. They go and take shelter in an old firehouse and call themselves the Ghostbusters. On they go, busting ghosts, helping Dana Barrett (Sigourney Weaver), and meet the ultimate evil that may destroy the world forever.
It took about $32 million to create this movie (IMDb) On its opening weekend, June 8 of 1984, over $13.6 million was made. It hit one of the top spots in the movie biz, gaining more popularity that Gremlins (which was released on the same day), and a rating of 7.8 out of ten (IMDb). Reitman was amazed by how amazing this movie came out, considering how incredibly ridiculous it was.
