Weekly Update
December 1st
Ninety-One School
Dear Ninety-One Community,
It has been busy around our school these past few weeks. Volleyball wrapped up it's season with games against Baker Prairie. We also have so many of our students donating canned food to our December Events drive. Our middle school leadership team is continuing to raise money for their school trip.
Please read below for some information regarding upcoming events and news.
Best Wishes,
Andy Pauls
December Events 2022
December Events collection of food items (see shopping list attached to flyer), new socks, new underwear, and the return of Giving Tree gifts started Monday November 28! All donations are due back by December 9. Collection boxes will be throughout the school and one bin will be available at all times at Zion Mennonite Church at 6124 S Whiskey Hill Rd, Hubbard, OR 97032. Volunteers will be needed throughout the collection days, see sign up genius if you would like to help. Sign up for collection days. Giving Tree tags can still be requested using the Giving Tree Tag request form. Volunteers are also needed Monday, Dec. 12 from 9-noon (no sign up required) for a fun wrapping of gifts event at school. This is a great opportunity to get to know others in our community.
Inclement weather
As the temperatures get colder, it’s time to start preparing for winter weather! If the weather is severe enough to cancel school, the first day of inclement weather will be a snow day for all! Any inclement weather day thereafter will be an online learning day. Elementary school families, this means you may see iPads come home with your students if questionable weather is forecasted.
In the event of an online learning day, Canby High School will begin at 8:40 a.m. and all other schools will begin at 9:30 a.m. Students should watch for Zoom links from their teachers. If students have trouble connecting or need help, they should reach out to their teacher. Canby School District strives to make the most of this valuable educational time, but please know that students will not be penalized if they are unable to connect.
To make sure you’re set to receive information about school delays, or closures, and online learning days, please subscribe to Canby School District on FlashAlert. Now is also a good time to update your text preferences online by listing your phone number.
For more information, please see our inclement weather page.
Volleyball
Our Ninety-One Volleyball teams concluded their season by playing Baker Prairie. All teams did such a fantastic job representing our school. We are so proud of the hard work they did this season.
A big THANK YOU to Tess and Akua Swift for volunteering to coach our girls.
Girls Basketball
We are excited to announce that we will have girls basketball this season starting Dec. 5th.
This season will look a little different. The league we have traditionally been a part of for years disbanded at the end of last year. So we are going to hold an intramural league designed to improve players skills and prepare them for more intense competitions down the road.
Practice days will be Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. Students will have a study hall from 2:35-3:10 and then practice from 3:15-5:00.
If interested, athletes need to have a permission slip and a physical on file. Please reach out to the office if you have questions.
Paint and Movie Night
Our Paint activity will be facilitated by our very own Mrs. Wilson in the cafeteria from 5:30-6:30pm.
PTO will be presenting the movie Elf at 6:40 in the blue gym. Refreshments and snacks will be available.
You are welcome to donate to our December Events during this time.
Come in your cozy clothes, bring some blankets and prepare to make some special memories as a family.
