OPEN HOUSE
Today is our first Open House of the season, and we hope that you bring in friends or relatives to see what a wonderful school your son enjoys. Start time is 5:30, a perfect opportunity to also see our Choristers sing Vespers in the beautifully restored St. Paul’s Church. If you have not done so already, please follow us on social media and help spread the word through likes, shares, retweets, etc. You can find Saint Paul’s Choir School on Facebook (Saint Paul’s Choir School Harvard Square), Twitter (@spcsadmissions and @SPChoirSchool), Instagram (@saintpaulschoirschool), and YouTube (Saint Paul’s Choir School). This sometimes requires a daily effort to check in to see what Mr. Moran has posted so that you can like new posts and generate a stronger presence for our media posts. As always, we appreciate your support.

This week at school . . . . .
Daily Mass: We were delighted to have one of the local Jesuit priests celebrate Mass for us again yesterday. In his homily he shared his appreciation for St. Ignatius of Antioch. In the year 107, Emperor Trajan visited Antioch and forced the Christians there to choose between death and apostasy. Ignatius would not deny Christ and thus was condemned to be put to death in Rome. The homily went on to share our celebrant’s own background in Africa in a country that was plagued by religious persecution and tribal brutality. His stories of heroic action on behalf of his family and relatives were profound. We are so fortunate to have such a wealth of information and formation in all that we do here at St. Paul’s Choir School.
School Nurse: Thanks to a grant from the Catholic Health Foundation, Ms. Kelly Edwards visited each grade level and shared some guidance for avoiding all the germs that are so common and lead to the common cold. She stressed that these germs do not like preventive measures like proper sleep and a healthy diet. The session aligned with the life science classes Mr. Maurer is teaching. Ms. Edwards joins us once a month from St. Agnes School in Arlington, where she is a full-time school nurse. Next month she will conduct vision and hearing screenings and a scolios check. Please let us know if you would like to opt out of this. In keeping with our work to maintain a safe and healthy school. Ms. Edwards also gave a lesson to the 5th and 6th grade students on how to identify and help prevent bullying. This is part of our ongoing curriculum in unison with our advisory program that promotes kindness, communication, cooperation, and friendship and includes lessons and activities stressing empathy, anger management, and conflict resolution skills.
Progress Reports: Mailed on Monday, you should find one in your mailboxes today or tomorrow. Please feel encouraged to reach out to teachers and share your praise and concerns with anything that you find interesting in the reports.
News: If you have not visited the newsstand recently, you might be interested in reading the latest comic book recently published by our 3rd and 4th grade students. Featuring the adventures of Super Steve, you will be hooked after reading and enjoying the outstanding graphic art. Ask Ms. Fox for the latest edition and she might even introduce you to the Super Steve creative team.
Thank you, Tom
