Principally Speaking
I am so pleased! Some great news came out with the release of the ISTEP+ scores. As a corporation, we moved from performing at 129th/369 school corporations in the state (35% were better than us - 65th percentile) to performing as the 32nd best/369 school corporations (only 9% are better now - 91st percentile) across the state of Indiana. Much of that if not most of that, is due to the middle school's growth!
- As a school our average growth in math was 6.8%.
- As a school our average growth in ELA was 2%
We can be proud and relish the growth for a moment. Now, we keep pushing and stay the course.
Midterm grades are ready for viewing TODAY. Please be sure to check on your student's progress by logging into Infinite Campus. Should you have any concerns, please contact the teachers directly to discuss and plan how we can help your student perform his or her best.
Have a wonderful weekend! As always, I am honored and thankful to serve you and your students as the principal of Danville Community Middle School.
Sincerely,
Marsha Webster
Principal

Nutrition Club Information
The Nutrition Club provides supplemental weekend food for children at North, South and the Middle School each Friday during the school year. We all struggle at some point. The goal of this program is to ease a bit of the struggle. You are welcome to sign-up at any point during the school year. The food will be sent home in a cinch sack or plastic bag that can fit inside a school backpack or be carried.
Please complete the form below or complete the on-line registration: http://www.kidssummerlunchbunch.org/club.php. You only complete one form per family. List all of your children that you would like to participate. Each child in your family will receive their own cinch sack or bag on Fridays throughout the school year. This program is the result of the generosity of the Danville community!
Please contact Julie Randall with any questions. Randall.6203@gmail.com or 317-694-5097.

Scholars are provided resources and assistance to help them plan and prepare for college and pay for expenses not covered by their scholarship.
Applications must be submitted by June 30 of the student's 8th grade year.
Apply online only. Eligible 7th and 8th grade students and their parents or legal guardians can access the online application at www.Scholars.IN.gov . Please review income eligibility requirements online before applying by visiting www.Scholars.IN.gov/enroll .

6th Grade Thanksgiving Feast
PTO will be coordinating the 6th grade Thanksgiving Feast. We are looking for volunteers who can help us from 8 AM until 2 PM on Wednesday, November 23. You can sign up for 1-2 hour shifts. You do not have to have a 6th grader to help either! Please email dcms4pto@gmail.com if available to help. The 6th grade teachers need our help for this great tradition to continue. Please volunteer an hour or two of your time.
7th and 8th grade Pre-game Party!!
7th and 8th graders will be having a pre-game party PTO fundraiser 3:30 PM-5 PM on Thursday, December 8th. $10 admission price will include DJ, photo booth, spirit wear contest with winner receiving $5 DQ gift card, hot dog, chips, water and a cookie AND admission into the boys basketball game! We will need several volunteers to help make this a successful event for the kiddos. Please email dcms4pto@gmail.com to sign up.
PTO is kicking of its annual winter Box Tops and Campbell's Soup labels contest! The contest will run through January 9th to allow you time to collect them during your holiday cooking and baking. Ask grandmas, aunts, relatives, friends and neighbors to clip and save them for you too. It is worth your time because the winning class for 5th and 6th grade and the winning class for 7th and 8th grade will win $4 vouchers for our very own Royal Theater! The vouchers are good towards admission or concession stand. 7th and 8th graders please put clipped labels in a Ziploc baggie with your child's name and their 3rd period teachers name and turn in to their 3rd period teacher. 5th and 6th grade students please use your 1st period teacher. The winning teacher on each side will win a $10 amazon gift card! Start clipping, saving and turning them in. Who will the winning classes be? Who will the winning teachers be? If you want it to be you, turn in your labels! All Campbell's Soup labels go towards earning recess and physical education items. Box Tops are worth 10 cents EACH, and they send us a check that is used for teacher requested items.
