Davis Bilingual Magnet Elementary
DECEMBER NEWSLETTER
Dear Davis Families,
The end of the semester is fast approaching! It's hard to believe we are almost half-way through the school year. Thank you for your on-going support. Your dedication to the Davis community is what makes our school so incredible!
The annual Las Posadas is scheduled for Friday, December 9th. We will begin in the school cafeteria at 5:30pm. If you are interested in volunteering or donating, please contact our school office. This year, the event will end at Oury park. We will celebrate this amazing cultural experience while sipping hot cocoa and enjoying pan dulce. We hope to see you there!
We are excited to have a co-ed basketball team this year! Our team is comprised of students in grades 3rd-5th. If you are able to attend games and cheer on our team, we would love to see you! Please see the game schedule below.
Once again, thank you for your support. Davis families are truly the best! We appreciate you.
Sincerely,
Sra. Campillo

Scholastic Book Fair
The Scholastic Book Fair is scheduled for December 5 – 9, 2022 in the Davis Library. This is the library’s biggest fundraiser of the year. PTA sponsors the book fair to raise money for library books and to promote literacy through author visits. The Scholastic Book Fair will be open all week from 8:00 AM to 5 PM.
If you are available to volunteer please sign-up HERE
Library Update
Historically, Davis has had a site-based policy that allowed only 3rd – 5th grade students to take library books home, while students in grades K- 2nd kept their library books at school. To promote more reading for all students, we will be changing that policy beginning in December. All students will be able to check out books from the library and take them home. Students come to the library every week for 45 minutes. Please check your child’s backpack weekly for their library books so they can return them on time. If a student loses a book, they can bring in a replacement or pay for the book. Davis parents who would like to check-out books can come into the library and create an account. This is a great opportunity for parents to read with their child!
Arizona law HB2439
Beginning January 1, 2023, Arizona law HB2439 will be in effect. This law affects only libraries that have a full-time librarian. It states that parents must have access to the school’s library collection and can review their child’s library borrowing history. The Davis library collection is accessible on the TUSD Website. Here are instructions on how to find our collection:
- Go to www.tusd1.org and scroll down to the blue section toward the bottom of the page
- Click on Destiny library under Support and Services
- Click on Elementary, find Davis, then Catalog
If parents would like a copy of their child’s library borrowing history, please come into the library and the librarian can access it for you.
