Final Principal's Letter for 20-21
Hello Bobcat Families,
Happy Memorial Day Weekend! Tomorrow we honor all those who have fallen serving our country. We are grateful for the freedoms we have because of their sacrifices! As a reminder, there is no school tomorrow, May 31st, in observance of Memorial Day. Congratulations to our families who had high school graduates this weekend--what a wonderful accomplishment and milestone! We enjoyed having our Alumni Walk this past Wednesday, where the students got to "clap out" our Matea Mustangs! We look forward to "clapping out" our 5th grade students as we wish them well in their transition to middle school--we will truly miss them but know they always have a home and family here at Brookdale!
We hope our students enjoyed Student Appreciation Week this past week and felt the love we wanted to share right back to them. It was fun seeing the hats, superheroes, Zoom outfits, and the joy the BYOT day brought to the Bobcats. We also had staff who shared appreciation videos during our morning announcements. We are so proud of them and their incredible resilience during this challenging year!
We transition this week into the final stretch of the 20-21 school year. It's hard to believe the time has come. Although we are all ready for time to unplug, relax, and rejuvenate our energy, we will truly miss our Bobcats. We have been through a lot together this year, times we do not necessarily want to relive, but we all grew stronger together and learned a great deal. As the smoke from this pandemic dissipates, the Bobcats are standing strong!
Thank you will never be enough to express our gratitude to all of you, our partners through it all. The incredible resilience you all showed, the grandparents showed, the caretakers showed...everyone who had a part! It always takes a village but nothing compares to the village it took this school year-- THANK YOU!
On behalf of the Bobcat Staff, we wish you all an incredibly relaxing and restful summer filled with many things you may have missed this past year. We look forward to a new school year as we continue moving forward to a new normal, keeping our Bobcats as our focus! It has been a true honor to lead Brookdale this year; l I personally have learned a great deal, making us even stronger in the years to come. I continue to be incredibly proud of our students, staff, and community--we are, we are, Bobcats...show that PRIDE!
Brookdale's Proud Principal,
Mrs. Keeley Schmid

This year, we will be having the clap out for the 5th Grade as we have done in the past!!! We aren't able to do everything we normally do, but we are happy that this tradition can be safely achieved!

Let's help our 5th Graders celebrate this milestone and say goodbye to their home away from home for the last 6 years, Brookdale Elementary.
Yearbooks are Here!
We are allowing yearbook signing but will be ensuring students all have their own writing utensil to continue the tradition but also being mindful of safety.
