Term 4- Issue 16 20th October 2022
Dear Parents & Caregivers,
Welcome back to Term 4! It has been another smooth start to the term with all children returning enthusiastically to the routines of school and in correct summer uniform. With only 9 weeks in this term, it is sure to fly by as it will be very busy.
MANDATORY ISOLATION REQUIREMENTS - COVID CHANGES
As parents would be aware, the mandatory isolation requirements for COVID positive results was removed last Friday. On direction of the Health Department, children or staff who test positive no longer have to serve a 5-day period of isolation. Instead, the advice is that should you test positive, please stay home until you are well enough to return. As with any illness, if you have symptoms, please do not put others at risk by returning to work or school.
WORLD TEACHERS DAY AUSTRALIA - FRI 28th OCT
Australia will celebrate the teaching profession on World Teachers’ Day on Friday 28 October 2022. Our staff have shown great resilience during challenging times, all so they can give Australian students the best future possible. We are encouraging students, their families and the community to celebrate teachers. Staff will be wearing casual dress on Friday 28th Oct and we will be treating them to morning tea.
Thank you teachers, education assistants, administration and grounds people!
ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING - SAVE THE DATE!
This year, we will be moving our Annual General Meeting to the afternoon on Wednesday 23rd November @ 3:30pm. We encourage more parents to attend as we report to our community on the year that was 2022. We also take the opportunity to announce the classroom teachers for 2023. To encourage parent attendees, staff will supervise any younger children on the playground throughout the meeting, which we anticipate to last approximately an hour.
ST FRANCIS OF ASSISI FEAST DAY
We welcomed back our children with our annual feast day celebration of our patron saint, St Francis of Assisi. His actual feast day falls on October 4 each year, which is during our school holidays. So we marked this significant date with a mass, followed by the mission fete and students v teachers basketball game. It was wonderful to see parents in attendance at the mass and watching online, while a number also volunteered to support the stalls. All money raised goes towards supporting the Wheelchair For Kids foundation.
P & F SPONSORED NOONGAR SEASONS MURAL
Many parents would have noticed the progress made with our Six Seasons Noongar Mural being completed facing the basketball courts. Thanks to https://www.ngwarleuntyeart.com/ who is a parent in our community, this mural depicts the story of the six seasons in Noongar culture. Thank you to the P&F for their funding of this project - we are very excited at the prospect of the finished painting.
Good luck to all the children competing in the interschool athletics carnival at Ridgewood tomorrow. Over 50 children will be taking part in a range of athletic individual and team games against other local catholic schools. Our school is always proudly represented through the fantastic attitude and sportsmanship of our children. Thank you to Ms Hamilton for coordinating and Mr Clarke and Mr Carroll for supervising the children.
YEAR 6 CAMP
We wish our Year 6 children well as they venture to Kerem Adventure Camp on Monday. They have been very excited at the prospect of camp after the disappointment of having to postpone it from earlier this year due to COVID. We are pleased to offer them the opportunity of a primary school camp experience. Thank you to Mrs Freeman, Mr Gorman, Mr Clarke, Ms Hamilton and Mrs Baker for supporting our children and giving up time with their own families over the three days. Let's hope for some warm weather and a great experience!

ST FRANCIS OF ASSISI FEAST DAY MASS & MISSION FETE
WOW! What a great start to the term with our wonderful mass celebrating the life and good works of St Francis and our fabulous Mission Fete! Welcome back to Father Darek who celebrated the Eucharist with us. It was lovely to see so many parents in our school enjoying our celebrations. Thank you to all the parents, staff and students who participated on the day - we couldn't have such an amazing day without your help and support. All money raised will support Wheelchairs 4 Kids.
BENEDICT FEAST DAY
Benedict Feast Day was a wonderful celebration of our green faction saint - Benedict. The children in Benedict had a great day, starting with a short liturgy about Benedict, followed by lots of team building games and activities, finishing with a sausage sizzle and an icy pole. It is always so wonderful to see how caring the Year 5 and 6 students are in supporting the younger students in completing group activities.
AGNES FEAST DAY
Agnes Feast Day is coming up in Week 6 (Wednesday 16 November). All children in Agnes (PP - Year 6) will take part in a liturgy, team building games and a shared lunch. (8:45am - 1:10pm).
ALL SAINTS MASS
There will be a whole school Mass on Tuesday 1 November to celebrate all the Saints of the Catholic Church. This is a very special feast day, a Holy Day of Obligation. Mass will be held at the school at 1:45pm. Family members are invited to celebrate with us.

Two fantastic achievements from children in our community to announce to start his term.
