Falcon Focus
March 18, 2022
From Mr. Biscan
Spring Break is quickly approaching and that means we're gearing up to honor and celebrate the Class of 2022! In order to provide you with clear and timely information regarding end of the year senior class details, we will utilize a Class of 2022 webpage. This webpage will help our seniors and their families plan and organize themselves as they conclude their school year. Further information can be found in the next section below.
Right now is a great opportunity to check in with your child about their academic and social/emotional progress. All of us tend to fall into routines and make assumptions that things are going fine but there's never a bad time to ask how things are going. Find a few minutes to check in this weekend. You won't regret it.
Thanks to everyone for your continued support of Wheaton North High School.
Have a safe and enjoyable weekend.
We are Falcons. We are Proud. We are North.
Class of 2022
Graduation for the Class of 2022 is Saturday, May 28, at
10:00 a.m. The Commencement Ceremony will take place at the College of DuPage in the Physical Education Center.
Complete information for all upcoming events related to the Class of 2022, including graduation, will be posted on the Wheaton North website, www.wnhs.org, on Monday, March 21. You will find the “Class of 2022” information link in the scrolling announcements on the left side of the home page.
Next week, we will be mailing your graduates official immunization records. Many colleges and universities require a copy of these records. We recommend that you keep them in a safe place. A handicap seating request form, graduation photo order form, and ceremony DVD order form will arrive with the immunization records. The mailing will be addressed to the parent/guardian of the graduate and have a red “Important Graduation Information” stamp on the front of the envelope.
We look forward to celebrating the Class of 2022!
If you have any questions regarding graduation, please contact Mary Bischoff at mary.bischoff@cusd200.org or 630.784.7320.

Required State Testing for Freshmen, Sophomores and Juniors
All Freshmen, Sophomores and Juniors are required to participate in the school-day SAT (Juniors), PSAT 10 (Sophomores) and PSAT 8/9 (Freshmen) tests on Wednesday, April 13. There is no fee for the test, and the students will be automatically registered. It will be a
non-attendance day for Seniors.
Buses will run their normal routes in the morning and run an early dismissal after testing. Students may enter the building at 6:45 AM like a normal school day. Students should be in their testing classrooms by 7:20 AM and will be dismissed at approximately 12:30 PM following test administration.
More information regarding the specific tests will be coming. Please contact Jim Venckus with any questions at james.venckus@cusd200.org or 630-784-7348.
Parking Ticket Reminder
To pay your ticket, please see Mrs. Flores in the Gold Hub, room 509.
From the Health Office
If your student becomes ill during the school day, please remind them to go to the Health Office before texting a parent/guardian to go home. A student may be sent to the Health Office on a teacher's pass in case of sudden illness or injury. If the nurse feels the student is to be sent home, a parent or another authorized emergency contact will be consulted and transportation options discussed. Students leaving school because of illness or personal emergencies must check out through the health office to avoid an unexcused absence. A parent/guardian's request to excuse the absence after the student leaves during the school day cannot be honored. This process saves time and eliminates confusion, so we appreciate your cooperation.
Students entering the 9th grade for the 2022-2023 school year must show proof of having received a physical examination dated on or after August 17, 2021. A copy of this physical exam is expected in the Wheaton North Health Office by the first day of school - August 17, 2022.
If your student will be participating in interscholastic athletics, please make a copy of the completed physical form and turn it into the Athletic office via Family ID. Please note, the Illinois High School Athletic Association sports physical form does not qualify for the required 9th grade physical, but the required state physical form does qualify for both school and sports.
Students entering 12th grade for the 2022-2023 school year must show proof of having received a dose of Meningococcal Conjugate Vaccine (MCV4) on or after their 16th birthday. Proof of having received this vaccination is due in the Health Office by the first day of school - August 17, 2022.
Physical Exam and Immunization records may be dropped off in the Main Office at WNHS or scanned (no screenshots, please) and emailed to: Wheatonnorthhealthoffice@cusd200.org
Please call the WNHS Health Office with any questions:
630-784-7327.

Wheaton North Bass Fishing Team
Currently, we have one reliable and consistent boat to use for practice and tournaments, limiting the number of student-athletes who are able to participate. We are in need of an additional boat(s) to use for practice and tournaments throughout the year. In place of renting or borrowing boats throughout the year, we are seeking a permanent solution, in the form of a boat that is donated to the school. This will provide our young anglers with the opportunity to further develop their love for the outdoors, passion for fishing, learn basic boat maintenance and upkeep, and further our conservation efforts!
If you, or someone you know has a fishing boat that they would be willing to donate, sell to the school, or if you have questions please contact joseph.drover@cusd200.org.

An updated monthly scholarship bulletin will be posted to the counseling office website each month. Seniors can apply to a number of local scholarships by following the links provided.
The FAFSA (Free Application For Federal Student Aid) opens today, October 1. This application allows students to receive financial aid from a number of resources. All students should complete the FAFSA regardless of the family income level. Many colleges require the FAFSA in order for students to receive any kind of aid, including merit scholarships. For a complete guide to the FAFSA, please check out the counseling website under the Financial Aid link.
Students must meet one of the following requirements to receive a public school diploma (Public Act 101-0180):
File a FAFSA Application; or
File an Application for State Financial Aid; or
File a waiver/opt out with the school district. (This form should be printed and dropped off in the counseling office). Emailed forms will not be accepted.
Nothing additional is needed to meet the graduation requirement. Once you file your FAFSA, the state reports back to WN that it is complete.
