Dear Everitt Families:
Happy rainy Friday, Everitt families!
It was a great week at Everitt. Clubs are in full swing and it has been wonderful to see our students step up in leadership in their chosen clubs. They are developing connections with peers and adults around common interests. One of my favorite parts of today was seeing our parent volunteer, Officer Mallory, and lots of fantastic Everitt students returning from their mountain bike ride this morning! Below, I share some information about clubs but I want to highlight a couple of things. One, our mixed martial arts club (in partnership with Personal Achievement Martial Arts - we are so grateful!) will begin meeting this week on Wednesday. Secondly, we are looking for a few people who could offer some support and expertise to a cosmetology club. We have students interested in learning more and need a sponsor.
This week we completed MAP testing in our English Language Arts and Math classes. The data that we receive from these assessments help us to know how best to meet the needs of our students throughout the semester. We use them as one data point for placement in intervention and honors classes as well. We are proud of our students for doing their best on these assessments this week.
You received communication earlier this week from Jeffco Public Schools on Regional Opportunities for Thriving Schools Phase 2. In that communication, the district shared that there are two K-8 schools recommended to the school board for closure. Those schools are Arvada K-8 and Coal Creek K-8. As a community, we know how difficult it is to face school closure and consolidation. We will find ways to support our friends at Arvada K-8 and at Coal Creek K-8 as they adjust to the news and make decisions about future educational homes for their children. I want to reiterate that Everitt is not slated for closure. I have heard that there were some rumors in the community about the closure of Everitt or the consolidation of Everitt and Wheat Ridge High School. I hope that this news helps in dispelling those rumors and allows us to move forward as a community with the knowledge that the Wheat Ridge articulation area will not be impacted by phase 2.
I hope you enjoy this rainy evening with your families. I look forward to curling up with a good book, my sweet dogs, and a cup of tea.
Thank you for supporting and believing in your neighborhood school. It is our privilege to partner with you!

SOCIAL EMOTIONAL SURVEY for 8th grade families
The mental health team is starting our SEL groups in September. 8th grade groups will be held during Late Start on Thursday mornings. Our focus will be on helping students increase focus, mind/body connection and coping skills. This will be a 6-week group with room for 8-10 students. I’ve included a brief survey for you to fill out regarding your child. This information will help us select students for this round of groups. Space is limited so not all students will be able to participate. However, if you feel your child would benefit from support, there is a place at the end of the survey to indicate this need. Someone from our team will reach out to discuss this in more depth with you.
8th Grade English Family Survey
