Newsletter Week One Term One
St Claudine Thevenet 04 February 2022
A Word from the Principal
Kia ora e te whānau,
As we begin the year, I want to acknowledge that we are heading into Term 1 with a lot of uncertainty. I know that through this Covid pandemic, there will be things that have happened that members of our community will disagree with. There will also be decisions that have been made of which our community has been supportive.
Though there will be different perspectives about our nation's Covid response, Our school’s aim is to ensure that our learning environment is safe and inclusive. The protocols we have put in place have been developed from guidance supplied by the Ministry of Education, guided by the Ministry of Health.
There are going to be challenges as we adjust to the current response to Omicron, and these challenges effect everyone. However, if you have concerns or questions, please email, phone or meet with me. Our teachers are focussing on creating great learning environments and making the start to the year a really positive one - we want this to be their priority.
Though, we as adults, may carry the worries or concerns about the coming months, the challenge for us all is to remain positive for our tamariki. Let us continue to make sure that we are being kind to one another while following guidelines to keep everyone safe.
We hugely appreciate your support.
He waka eke noa - we are all in this together.

Junior Total Touch Competition
Our school will be entering teams into the Junior Total Touch Competition” at Fraser Park and Hutt Park. There are no Year 1/2 teams for Term One. We will enter as many teams from Year 3-8 as numbers allow and will need parent support to manage or coach teams. Each team will be made of 8-9 players.

Grades will alternate weeks and play double headers
Week 1, 3 and 5 = Grades 3/4 and 7/8 girls & mixed
Week 2, 4 and 6 = Grade 5/6 and 7/8 boys-
Total Touch see this as a way to reduce people at the park and possible transmission. The format will be confirmed once teams are confirmed after registrations close
The cost will be $20.00 per player for the 6 weeks and will need to be paid by Thursday, 10 February.
Please Note - payment must be made by this date or a no pay no play policy will be enforced as this is paid to Total Touch.
