A Note From Miss Kelly
Thank you for all taking the time to attend our 3-way conferences. I know the students had a great time showing you our classroom!
As a fun way to countdown to summer, 1st grade will be having an A-Z countdown. The countdown will start next week, on May 6. Each day will be assigned a different letter and we will celebrate that letter in some way. For example, A is for Art day and we will complete an art activity in class. B is for Book Buddies and students will share a book with a friend. Some days will require students to wear or bring in something from home. For example, E is Exercise day and students need to wear tennis shoes to school. F is Flower day and they need to bring, or draw a picture of, a flower to give to a friend. This is a fun way to stay engaged until the end of the school year. I have attached a copy of the countdown to this email and a paper copy will be going home on Sunday. Thank you for your support with this exciting activity!
We will have a fire safety assembly on Wednesday and will be visited by local firemen!
Please remember to send your child's portfolio back to school next week if you took it home after conferences.
A Peek at Our Week Ahead

Using place value to count to 120 and beginning to add and subtract multiples of 1s and 10s
We are beginning our final Social Studies unit. Please see the attached parent letter explaining the unit. This week we will be learning about specialized jobs (community helpers) and the difference between goods and services.
