Type in a search word. Here we are searching the key phrase, gold rush.
The first page of results are the books available in our library. Notice that one of these books is an e-book. E-books are identified by a green box with an E. You can log in and read our e-books without leaving your chair! Just click Open (circled below in red) and log in.
Your username will be firstname.lastname –password is the same as you use on the computers at school. If you have trouble logging in, stop by the library and see Mrs. Lutes.
Reading an e-book is just like reading a library book except it’s in digital form. There are other digital resources you can access from the catalog, too.
If we look at the catalog search results for gold rush again, we see that there are two tabs available at the right side of the screen. The first tab is Titles and this is the tab that shows us all the library books available. The second tab is called One Search.
When you click on the One Search tab, a page of resources from the web and online encyclopedias is displayed. Each source is listed separately with a description and the number of items in each. To see these items, click on Show under the name of the source. In the screen shot below, the results available from National Geographic are expanded. You can see Hide replaced Show and the green check mark is now a red X.
