Whiteley Wildcat Update
October 18, 2019
Autumn has arrived and you can feel it and see it at Whiteley! Our students are engaging with the season through science, field trips and writing. There have been some great art projects that are reminding us of the many fun attributes of the season. Next week, our third grade students will connect with a pumpkin investigation and connect science and math into their learning. Despite the colder temperatures we are keeping warm with learning.
Student Pick-Up
We are asking our parents to please follow our procedures for student pick-up. We want to ensure the safety of our students, parents and staff members. Recently, parents have been parking in the lot and having students walk through the traffic to get in their cars. Please refrain from parking in our lot. We are also going to ask that parents remain in the vehicles while in the pick-up line. We really appreciate your assistance with this process.
PTA
The 2nd annual Wildcat Dash is Sat Nov 9th at 8:30 am. Come run/walk the scenic lakeside route or add on an exciting scavenger hunt along the way! You can turn in your registrations to the school office or register online at frankcwhiteley.memberhub.store If you are not interested in running? We could use your help at the race! Volunteer opportunities will be up soon! Hope to see you there!"
Halloween
We want to ensure that our students have a safe and fun celebration at school. Please remember that due to the district’s food policy students will not be able to pass out any food treats to their classmates. We also want to remind parents that if you haven’t turned in your money for the parties, you can turn that into the school office for the PTA.
Veterans’ Day
Veterans Day is Monday, November 11th, and we would like to honor our family members, friends, and members of the community who have served in our armed forces while teaching our students the significance of this very important day. We would love to invite all of our Veterans to FCW to enjoy a music performance and into the classrooms for a short meet and greet and/or Q and A session with students to share a glimpse of what being a member of the armed forces and a veteran means.
Who: Veterans of the FCW Community
What: Music performance with a Meet and Greet in classrooms to follow
When: Monday, November 11, 2019 @ 10:00 a.m.
Where: Frank C. Whiteley Elementary School
Why: To celebrate and honor our Veterans while providing an authentic learning experience for our students
RSVP: If you or a family member would be interested in joining us, please RSVP via email to Mrs. Lota at lotav@ccsd15.net.
We would like to arrange for our student body to hear from a few of our veterans and we are in need of some help. We are looking for a few veterans who would be willing to speak to our students as part of our event- just a few words or thoughts. If you or someone you know would be interested in sharing a few words with our students as a whole, please let Mrs. Lota know. We greatly appreciate your help and believe it will create a memorable experience for everyone.
