In 1861 the average family spends about $6.65 a month. As time past by to the 1863 people were spending $68 a month! Which led to people, mostly women and children to storm into bakeries and riot for bread. Watch out bakeries.

What caused it to happened
What happened?
Three factors have caused for the confederacy faces food shortage. One is the drain of manpower into the army. Also the union occupation of food-growing areas and the loss of slave works in the fields.
