The Hungate Echo
Sherburn Hungate Weekly News - Summer Term 2 - Issue 3
A word from Mr Broom.
The week did get considerably better from then on though. I commented about our year six production last week and I will do so again this week. I must say, the children are doing a fantastic job and anyone coming to watch it on Wednesday are in for a real treat.
I attended the EYFS sports day on Tuesday to see all of our youngest children take part in sporting activities. The organisation of the event was like clockwork and I thank those of you who came to support us. The children had a wonderful time.
We had our summer disco on Wednesday evening and yet again, our Friends association did a wonderful job and raised over £300.00 for school funds. Thank you to the core team and to those of you who came along with your children to help out.
Next week is the final week for year six at Sherburn Hungate. As they do every year, our oldest children move up to the high school for the final three weeks of the year. On Friday, there will be a celebration evening to celebrate their time at our school as they look forward to their bright futures.
Finally, we're almost in a position to share who will be your child's class teacher from September. I was hoping to let you know this week but due to a few staffing discussions we need to place a hold on this for now.
It's a world cup weekend for our football fans with England taking on Panama on Sunday afternoon. Let's hope the team do well and enjoy the game if you're watching it.

Friends' Newsletter - Style my Uniform
On Monday we are having a 'Style your Uniform' day in exchange for bringing a bottle to school for our bottle stall at the summer fair.
This means that the children will wear their normal uniform but may add an item of clothing/style. It might be they wear a bright coloured pair of socks or tights. Perhaps the Y6 children may choose to wear a different tie.
What PE Challenge Day?
School Closed - Afternoon of Wednesday 18th July
It's worth pointing out that 'Buddies', our on-site child care provider will be able to take a limited number of children on this afternoon. If this is something you are interested in, please see the contact details at the bottom of this newsletter.

Attendance
Congratulations to our Year 5 children who are our attendance champions in school this week with 97.3%!
Our average attendance this week is 96.4%. We're back above the national expectations after our sickness outbreak.
We have a small number of children whose attendance is well below the national expectations. These children are known as persistently absent when their attendance falls below 90%. I will be making telephone calls to parents of these children.
Thank you for your continued support with our attendance drive. It is really appreciated.
