Some words about Mrs. Dennis . . .

<---- I'm Your Teacher
Greetings, ya'll! This is my sixth year as a 7th grade teacher. I am a true Lubbockite (eh?), born and raised in Lubbock. I received my Bachelor of the Arts degree in English Literature from West Texas A&M University in 2006, and a few years after that, I went back to school to become a teacher (because what else was I seriously going to do with an English degree?). I really enjoy the challenges and creativity in teaching, and every year I look forward to getting to know my new students. Welcome to 7th grade!

Shakespeare is judging you.
It's important.
Commas are so misunderstood.
Why I Teach
At the end of my first year of teaching, one of my students handed me a note as she left my room for summer break. In that note, she included (among other sweet, kind words) this quote from Dan Rather: "The dream begins with a teacher who believes in you, who tugs and pushes and leads you to the next plateau, sometimes poking you with a sharp stick called truth."
I will never forget that young woman (who is now a senior - what?!?).
Also, I'm probably a little bit insane. Who CHOOSES to teach 13 year olds? Me.
The Life of Your Teacher
I married an awesome guy, Reade, in 2011. He was in the Navy and can seriously fix any computer issue we have. Our first baby, Violet, was born on June 7, 2014. We also have two dog-children, Penny the greyhound and Zooey the mess, I mean, border collie mix.
