- Dorothea Dix was the superintendent of nurses during the Civil War and the War of 1812.
- Her early job was that she was a nurse in training, but she never thought it would be so useful.
- When she got older she served in many wars as a nurse and she died on July 17, 1887 in Trenton, New Jersey.
- She helped men heal in the war because she was a nurse and she was a great person. She had to deal with blood and gruesome injuries.
