DBQ-Tip of the Month
December 2019
Don't have time for a full DBQ? Here's how to shorten it.
(Pause: what's the difference between "Mini-Q EV" and "Mini-Q CV"?)
EV stands for Enhanced Version. This version contains scaffolding, including background essay questions, pre-bucketing pages, and highly-scaffolded document analysis questions.
CV stands for Clean Version. This version contains no built-in scaffolding. (You can add in some scaffolds, such as document analysis sheets and essay outlines, when you begin building the assignment.)

Do you teach elementary? Our Elementary binders have an automatic option to shorten this.
In Elementary Vols 1 and 2, we offer a third "MV", or Micro Version. Click on the below images to learn more about what we changed in these versions!
Shortened Background Essays
Instead of a full page, the MV background essays are a half-page with a "Getting the Gist" summary section.
One Document Analysis
Instead of reading 3-5 documents (as in EV and CV), students will do a deep-dive analysis of one document with the MV. The document analysis questions are also included in the MV.
Single Paragraph Writing
Between our single bucket for organizing and our guided paragraph outline page, students will be ready to write a paragraph to answer the main question.
